Again, thank y'all so much for all the New York suggestions, because my mother and I put together a packet for her based off them, and then Sister Girl went and left it in the car at the airport. So I was able to go back to the comments and reconstruct much of it--the names and links, anyway--and email it to her.

Also, I really want cupcakes now.

It was only scheduled for three days, but so many sites kept saying that it could go on "all week" or "several days" that I was still surprised when it was suddenly over.

Ah. I really have to look into getting a JF account. I thought I could just post the stuff anonymously over there, but it got turned off.

Yeah, it got turned off because someone persisted in bringing up SVA's girlfriend YET AGAIN, but this time they also posted her real name.

A Seven Samurai remake? I haven't even finished watching Samurai 7 (a clever, generally well-made semi-futuristic anime rendition of the story).

I dunno. I think I'll file this under "More Things The World Doesn't Actually Need, Thanks."

What sort of braindead do you have to be to leave a $390,000 violin you just had valued on the train? Seriously. I feel sorry for the guy but... seriously?!

Oh, and Prince Caspian is still ridiculously gorgeous. Which I can say without feeling like a perv because he's older than me in real life.

Reep! &hearts I wonder how big he's going to be in the movie; it's hard to get a sense of scale in that screencap.

Watchmen action figures...that weirds me out very much, for some reason. I'll still buy a Rorschach though

Okay, the next time you send Sister Girl out with any important documentation, you're fully entitled to safety-pin or staple it to her.

Aw, Rachel Nichols. She was so good on The Inside before it got Fireflied (stupid FOX grr grr), but there's something about the red hair on her that just doesn't jibe.

And the only interesting thing about Uwe Boll is that people keep investing in his movies. Not saying that Bay or Van Sant aren't beyond criticism, but Uwe Boll hasn't demonstrated cinematic aptitude beyond opening the lens cap and acting pretentious, so I'd hate to see his little glass house.

Hrm, Watchmen figures...hey, that's it. Cloverfield/Watchmen. That's my new favorite crossover flick. Difficulty: no Dr. Manhattan.

I can't believe the trial is over (you must be a bit relieved, heh). Although of course it will probably take weeks before we learn the decisions. What a mess it all is.

Your sister should totally do a guest-blog on here about comic-con! I'd love a first-hand account of it. (I wish I could have gone.)

...Have I mentioned lately how much I ♥ Edward Norton? He's so awesome. I hope the film turns out to be at least somewhat like he intended. Did you ever watch him talking about making The Illusionist on the extras to the DVD? I loved that.

Hey, I know you are a dog person, so I thought you might be interested in this. There was a artist who took a homeless dog out of an alley, tied it up in a gallery, and starved it to death as his presentation. =( The worst part is that he's been asked to repeat the performance/piece.

I just got news today that there are some petitions, up, though. (The second one is in Spanish as the art show is in Honduras, I think. They ask for name, email, city/location, and country. The Spanish one has over two million signatures already.)

And now for something a little more articulate: How in the hell does starving a dog to death qualify as "art"? Are people in the art world just so freaking pretentious that they will accept anything if you layer it with enough bullshit?

Date: 2008-04-18 10:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mercat.livejournal.com
It scares me that itsn't always pretention or acceptance, but people who don't care. =( Not that the whole thing isn't terribly sad in the first place!

I continue to be shocked at how desperately I want G.I. Joe to be good. I had no idea I was still so fannish about it.

And there's no need to ever directly remake Seven Samurai. Adapt it, sure, awesome, knock yourselves out, but to just remake it? Why? It's not like a new shiny version is going to improve on it. Next they'll remake Jaws and the Godfather.

FYI - Have you seen the latest on Neil's journal? There are still some general admission ($20) seats left in case Sister-Girl wants to go. (Assuming they haven't already sold out since he posted.) They can be gotten online or at the place I think.

The $500 seats have awesome goodie bags. If only we all had $500 lying around! Heh.

I don't get why Cinematical is reporting on Stephenie Meyer's small comment. She was just saying she liked the scenes she got to see on the set. Not a big deal.
