No vertigo today, although a touch of dizziness (apparently dizziness is also a side effect of Allegra D, but it seems to have helped the vertigo, so... whatever) and congestion. Spent the day reading annotated Sherlock Holmes stories. Still shocked from this morning. And now? Maggie Smith is fighting breast cancer. OKAY, STOP. It's only March and already I want a do-over on 2008.

ETA: Arthur C. Clarke dies in Sri Lanka at the age of 90?

ETA 2: Reports: Paul Newman's Visits to Cancer Doctor. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

I just heard Arthur C. Clarke died, but I can't find any reports (besides the always creepy Wikipedia update). I have a feeling another famous man whose name begins with A is going to die before the day is out.

It's up on the NY Times. (http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/world/AP-Obit-Clarke.html?hp)

I think we need to do today over.

Two volumes! (http://www.amazon.com/New-Annotated-Sherlock-Holmes-Complete/dp/0393059162/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1205879284&sr=8-1) Also, the preface indicates that there's a third volume (http://www.amazon.com/New-Annotated-Sherlock-Holmes-non-slipcased/dp/0393065944/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1205879284&sr=8-2) out there with the annotated novels, which is what I really need, because A Study in Scarlet is actually something of a plot point in the novel I'm writing.

2008 needs to go sit in the corner and think about what it's done, and not come out to play again until it can play nice.

'Cause I said so, that's why.

Nooooo not Maggie Smith!!!

But I felt really bad that my first reaction to Arthur C Clarke was: "He was still alive?" Poor guy :(

From: [identity profile] laerwen.livejournal.com
I never wanted to see this happen in my life, but it is. This is totally emo of me, but I always knew there would be a time in my life (and in the life of our generation) where all of the people we have known and loved all our lives would no longer be here. It's been starting over the last few years, and it's going to keep on for quite a while, I'm afraid. Sigh.

Paul Newman's getting up in years, as is Dame Maggie. I like Paul, but if we lost Maggie now I think I might be just a wee bit distraught. x.x She is such a trooper.
