I got that I have to tell my mother not to get me home decor anymore. While I am probably on my way there, I am not yet a 50-year-old hippie cat lady. I am a 24-year-old cat owner who does not need two folk art statues of cats. My mother and I have very different tastes, and she knows this, but it's like she forgets and just gets what she likes.

Still, she was thanked for her gifts, and they'll be put into storage until she comes to visit me.

Other than that, I got money, a Starbucks card, and very exciting things like bath mats and duvet covers. From my friends I fared better, with two Michael Kors purses and a Crate & Barrel gift card.

I got the Criterion Collection DVD of Rushmore, the second Firefly companion book, OotP on DVD, the new My So-Called Life complete series DVD set, and the first season of Futurama.

Another X-Mess present will arrive tomorrow when The Sweet, Far Thing is released and sent to me. :-D!

Woot to your Rushmore DVD! That's my absolute favorite film.

I... actually don't know yet. Christmas with my family tends to be more: 1) get up at noon; 2) watch TV while belatedly wrapping presents; 3) watch TV; 4) eat dinner at someone's house; 5) watch TV; 6) go to somebody else's house; 7) watch TV; and so on. We're so lazy :P

I got luggage (big, medium, and carry-on), Apples To Apples, and Working: The Broadway Archive.

The travel geek, word geek, and leftie liberal singing and dancing geek in me are all very happy.

Four books, Justice League Unlimited season one on DVD, some new clothes, some kitchen stuff (including a bottle of balsamic vinegar glaze that's so good I can't even TELL you, and a new set of luggage.

I made out good. I am happy and full of food.

Scuba gear! And a gift card to Bed & Bath Bodyworks (is that what it's called). Also a gift card to a local steakhouse, yay!

I think you're thinking of either Bed, Bath & Beyond or Bath Body Works. If it's linens it's the former, if it's lotions it's the latter. I used to work at Bath & Body Works. Still use their stuff, they got me all addicted.

All Clad 16-Qt Stockpot. It is so beautiful, and I haven't had a stockpot to use since I left my parent's house, or more literally since I cared about cooking.

I also got some random Christmas decorations, a sweater, the Princess Bride book in hardback with the latest edition of the DVD (my brother got it for me because we started off our wedding vows with the beginning of the "mawwiage" speech.)

But I love my stockpot. My comment right before I opened it was how much I wanted one, and how I hoped it was one.

I got chocolate covered pretzels!

Which books did you get? Will you read TDIR now? It's the perfect time for it, since the story is set at Christmastime...

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yay pretzels!

Actually, no one gave me TDIR, sadly. I mostly got Victorian-related books, which I'll probably post about at the rosehannah journal as I read them, a giant annotated Sherlock Holmes set, the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark boxed set (hee!), The Gift of Fear--I can't even reach the other bag full of books, or I'd tell you what's in that one, too. Most of them were fairly inexpensive, which is how we were able to amass such a great pile of them. My mother's really been incredibly supportive about helping me get the books I want for research.

It's been a very Gaiman Christmas.

My SO got me the Absolute Sandman Vol. I (which my brother doubled up which means I can return it and get Vol. II) and a signed, limited release copy of American Gods.

I got a stack of xBox games and a few shirts. My mother was flailing this year.

Also, tons of candy.

My dad got me a laptop, which is awesome, unexpected, and totally needed because of school. Other favorites were the Queen Platinum Collection (an awesome 3-cd set that I will be listening to for the next month), 5 or 6 new pieces of sheet music that I've been wanting, and (what absolutely made my Christmas) a Cirque du Soleil scarf that is totally gorgeous. :D

Oh, and some awesome Route 66 maps and literature to help me start planning more solidly for my eventual road trip. Whee!

I recieved the Wicked Soundtrack, money, PoTC: AWE version of The Game of Life, tarot cards (finally! lol) and a wallscroll of the 'Have you seen this wizard?' poster from HP: PoA.

Pretty much a geek Chrsitmas XD

What kinds of books did you get? Just wondering because I have been looking for some new reading material lately...

Mostly Victorian-related for research--hardly anything new, I don't think. A big annotated set of Sherlock Holmes stories (the thing weighs more than my dog, I'm pretty sure), the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark boxed set, but other than that, mostly nonfiction books about crime and courtesans and kitchens.

I got clothes, knitting books, DDR for the Wii, and a Sonic Screwdriver. The spouse got Guitar Hero, which has taken up our whole afternoon/evening.

I got all of Firefly, the second season of Doctor Who, American Gods and some Sandman. ♥

AND! A really old, broken pocket watch broke off of my friend's collage so I got to tinker with it and take it apart and clean it.

Season 2 of The Muppet Show, a foreman grill, and Heaps of LUSHness. My mother apparently wandered into the store, went into sensory overload and started pointing at random things. Then she got home to wrap them and forgot what they all were were, so there are post-its on things like "soap?" on a bubble bath bar, etc.

I got a keyfinder that you whistle at to make it chirp, 1st season of "I Love Lucy" DVDs, Goat Milk Soap (I have eczema in the winter, and it's the only thing that helps) and my mom got me full spectrum lights and a tripod for use when I take my etsy product shots. So look for super spiffy photos on my shop soon! (http://paulaberryjewelry.etsy.com)

Also, the whole family got a wood burning stove for Christmas, and the game "Cash Flow", which teaches you about investing and stuff. We only played it partway, since a full game can take 12 hours to complete. It's alot of fun, and I figured out what Robert Kiyosaki was talking about in his books.

An ipod shuffle which was a big surprise because I had been very insistent that I didn't have to have an Apple product. Plus dog walking/bad weather clothes, a ton of nice headbands, fancy slippers, Michael Palin's new book, and money. I think I might be finishing off my bpal wishlist.
