It's a long story that I can't really get into right now, but Erin's taken down the daily projectdownload file while she hashes out some issues with her financial assistance--anything referring to the actual nature of the project while she gets that cleared up, basically--so I'm substituting one of the Golden Compass files in my daily link until we get a new one up. The old link won't work anymore, since each upload gets a unique url--so just keep downloading something, anything, until we get this sorted out. The whole situation's kind of bad right now, so it's more important than ever.

Also, if you get the "needs to be configured" message, what that basically means is that they're overloaded at the moment--apparently they only can handle 25 downloads simultaneously, which was why there was such a bottleneck when I first put the Golden Compass files up.

Cleo, I respect you and all, but could it be possible there's some issue with Erin's veracity behind her legal trouble?

I know; I've considered that. I've basically spent every day since I started this going, "You know, it's entirely possible this whole thing is a scam, but... since she's not asking for money, I'd rather take the risk and help someone." Not a day goes by that I don't worry about that. The current level of detail she's gone into regarding her problems makes me think she's telling the truth, but--even if you're sure, there's still a built-in 1% chance, absolute minimum, that anything on the internet is a scam. Which is why I'm encouraging her to go to the media and post as much verification as she can. As encouraging as I'm trying to be, I would not endorse anything that actually involved money unless we had good independent verification--because it's not just me; it's potentially hundreds of people I could be involving in this. As it is, with just the downloads, I figure that if it does turn out to be a scam, I look like a dumbass and everyone gets to feel indignant, but beyond that, no real harm done.

I gave some too, from my paypal account which comes from posts I do for payperpost. It's not money I "earn," per se, and it's just sitting there otherwise. Karma's a bitch and if our good will is taken for granted and abused, things will come back to her in spades. On the other hand, we may have helped someone, someone we don't know and will probably never meet, with a debilitating condition get that much closer to help, and Karma will recognize that, too.

In the spirit of the season and all I hold dear to my heart, I will believe in this cause...
I don't have a clue if it is true and cannot do much more than clicking as often as possible, but today I will believe...

This would not only help with finances, but also with knowing if it was real...Maybe someone could talk to these people and find out...

Thank you for continuing to sport links to her MU account. She's going through a huge rough patch and I don't want her support to fall behind because of it.
