So... I was hoping December would be better than November, but so far it's sucking out loud and in color. I should probably shut up and count my blessings, since nothing really terrible has actually happened. It's just a lot of disappointments so far--a sense of which shoe might drop next.

GreatestJournal has dropped icon capacity from 1000 to... 10. Re: rumors that GJ might fold entirely: How to back up a journal. (Aww, she's using one of my icons.)

I thought the Speed Racer trailer looked awesome. After seeing the earlier stills, I wasn't too impressed, but now I'm really excited for the movie. Everything looks better in motion. :/

Yeah, I don't even care about Speed Racer the cartoon, but I watched the trailer earlier today and just got all around excited. It looks goofy, fun, true to the surreal spirit of the cartoon -- and the cast, whooo-boy.

I'm tracking with you right there: totally goofy, nigh-reverent fun.

GJ has currently disallowed the creation the of new accounts and is recommending people who would like to start an account go to Insane Journal instead so rumors of a meltdown come as no surprise. RPers, I expect, are probably freaking out.

Yeah, December is kind of suck. I'm typing this in the home computer room while my roommate's curled up on the sofabed in the livingroom with her dying basset hound (her extremely alive Yorkie is whining at my feet, but that's SOP for him). So not what you'd call A Festive Moment from any perspective.

Here's hoping things pick up for both of us, and soon.

Yup, I remember when the story was that Tim Roth was going to play Snape. As much as I love Alan Rickman and wouldn't trade his Snape for anything. I still wonder what it would have been like to have skewn the Marauder Era actors a bit younger.

I think The Golden Compass would have earned more money (or probably less) if Newline had actually clarified that it wasn't really a kids movie. (Especially when You-Know-Who's you-know-what flew off.) I would compare the violence to that of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; just because it's CGI, doesn't mean it's not suitable for your 5-year-old.

Either way, I believe there would be less comotion if Newline hadn't left The Golden Compass shrouded in ambiguity.
