God, I just feel tired and wonky. Maybe I needed to detox a little from all the crazy MUST WRITE FASTER 3000 WORDS IS NOT ENOUGH jag of the last couple of weeks. I ended up spending the afternoon on the couch wrapped in a giant knit blanket, which was decadent-lazy but really nice. Of course I probably won't be able to sleep tonight, but what can you do. I have something smaller I'd like to finish anyway.

(Since the [livejournal.com profile] projectdownload comm seems to be friends-locked now: Erin had been having radiation-induced seizures, and her friends posted yesterday that one of them finally caused memory damage. As in, she can't remember the last year and a half, some of her friends, or Project Download itself.)

That is a lot of linkspam today.

Sad about Erin (projectdownload) :( I read the post by her friend yesterday. I hope her memory returns. I'd desperately hate to lose the last year & a half of my life.

I feel so bad for Erin, I hope she can come back from this, my mother also had cancer to the brain, and recovered.

and after spending a few minutes reading that tripe of Lori Drew, I need to go find something to read to make me feel good about the human race again.

From the incredibly distasteful blog:

You don't understand what the last two years have been like, living in this town, dealing with these people.

BITCH, PLEASE.

Even if it weren't for the fact that she's a self-pitying sociopathic narcissist, I still wouldn't believe her, considering the fact that she hid behind the facade of a teenage girl before claiming that she and her daughter (she keeps pulling "Think of my poor innocent baby!") were actually the victim. Holy shit woman, do you have no conscience?

I hope that's not Lori Drew, I hope very very much that's someone pretending to be her, because it's one of the sickest things I've ever read. I'm a mom: if a kid's being mean to your kid, you deal. You do not descend to junior high school and fool her on myspace. Disgusting.

If it's someone pretending to be her...holy crap, that's almost as sickening. Sort of like that guy who said he'd killed JonBenet Ramsey.

Blogger's been saying they have no evidence of the blog being a hoax, though - here (http://deathby1000papercuts.blogspot.com/2007/12/lori-drew-megan-had-it-coming-what-her.html).

Swedish boy outthinks angry moose with Warcraft skillz.

I read that as the moose had Warcraft skillz. I actually had to read the article to figure it out. That was a confusing few moments.

I saw a trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks and couldn't find my remote in time to change the channel. A little part of me died and I'll never get it back.

I'm not sure if it's worse for that blog to actually be written by Lori Drew or an impersonator. Both options make me incredibly sick to my stomach for different reasons.

Besides, I don't see why it's still up. Other than being completely disgusting, isn't it basically a confession that completely contradicts everything else she and her lawyers have said so far? So if it really is her, then, um.. it's kind of not a good idea to leave it up, is it? Or am I missing something?

If it is her, then she appears to believe both that she's blameless (as a total sociopath would), and that since there weren't any charges filed previously, that nothing can touch her now. Apparently she doesn't really understand the concept of civil lawsuits. (Or vigilantism, despite her twisted, manipulative attempts at it herself.) I worry about her daughter.

I;m with you on shenanigans. I highly doubt "Megan Had it Coming" (ick) is Lori Drew. The first entry is written as a girl who went to school and had class with Megan. If I were Lori Drew, the last thing I would want to do is get on the internet and pretend to be anybody.

Having read the book I expected rather much of this. I really loved the design and visuals of the film, the daemons and polar bears were really nicely solved (although I would have wished for them to use real animals each time that was possible). As for the cast: Nicole Kidman was perfect, Dakota Blue Richards very good, Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Sam Elliot all great choices.
The reordering of some chapters of the book was an okay decision, but the ending came pretty sudden. Then again, the book ending was never really fitting for a film. But yes, the movie does feel rushed at times and is generally not as deep as the book, of course. The soundtrack wasn't anything special and sometimes even sounded unfitting to the scene. Not sure if I would have liked the movie more or less without having read the book. As it is: good entertainment, neither disappoint me nor blow me away. Better than Eragon and Narnia, far from Lord of the Rings. What I really wanna see is part three of this though, so I hope it'll do well.

Okay, I'm not sure I'm clicking correctly. Once I click, it asks me to open or save. I've done both, and gotten a little text box with a paragraph about Erin. Is that it, or is there something else to it? I'd like to help, but I have no idea if I'm doing it correctly or not.

That's it, that's all there is to it--you're directly downloading a .txt file. It's just a paragraph about Erin so as to have some kind of perfunctory something there to download.

I don't know if you already know about this, but I thought it might be good linkspam fodder. Apologies for untechnical linkage.
So this British guy, John Darwin, goes missing in 2002 after going out sea-canoeing on a very calm day. A verdict of accidental death is recorded.
A couple of weeks ago, he walks into a police station and utters the immortal words, "I think I'm a missing person". He claimed he had no memory of the past five years. (Linky: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/12/04/ncanoe104.xml)
His wife Anne had, just six weeks before that, moved to Panama with the life insurance money to start a new life.

Except... this photo turned up, showing he two of them in Anne Darwin's new Panamanian apartment. Last year. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,,2223073,00.html)

John Darwin has now been arrested for fraud, Anne has admitted the photo is genuine, and their two sons have claimed they had no idea.
In fact, John had been living with Anne for three years prior to walking into the police station: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/Missing-canoeist-lived-three-years.3568764.jp
