Monday night; I've felt better

Hmm. So I reread over the Radcliffe ball chapter--conquered that little bit of terror--and... it wasn't quite what I remembered. Or rather, I remembered all of it; I just thought there was more to it that I wasn't remembering. But no, that was it. I remembered it being really long and draggy, also, but it actually seemed to be missing a large chunk of ball-related activities. Like, there's a lot of build-up, and they talk about things they will do, and then... you don't really see them do those things. I'm not even sure that's a problem, because the talking about the doing of things is actually there for an entirely separate reason, and I have a bunch of new material to work in anyway. It was just sort of an interesting thing to realize.

Date: 2007-11-13 02:09 am (UTC)I'm going to keep drinking bottle water and refilling my bottles (you buy the big containers and fill up your old bottles, and hey you can put tea or whatever in those bottles too. Having a picnic freeze a bottle of water and put it in the cooler, better than a ice pack), thank you very much.
Plus a lot of peoples tap water isn't very drinkable.

Date: 2007-11-13 02:51 am (UTC)The Aquafina label issue is a recent court ruling; they were busted by consumers for something government regulation allowed.
Spring water sources are pressure pumped bore hole wells next to springs allowed under current regs and have their own issues.
Undrinkable tap water in urban centers is an issue of wimpy taste buds and cheap old plumbing not safety.
Recycling is not a solution for overconsumption.

What I do is carry a Camelback bottle that I fill up at work.

Date: 2007-11-13 05:31 am (UTC)The other nice thing about the game is that it adjusts to your level of vocabulary knowledge. There are 50 vocabulary levels, and as you get words right or wrong, you go up or down in level (three right words and you go up a level and one wrong and you go down a level). That keeps it in the range that you can answer with a bit of a challenge. The earlier levels are very easy, so even non-native English speakers can play. And for a bit of added challenge - they say on the FAQ page that it's rare for people to get above level 48. ;)
(Full disclaimer - I saw this linked from the BBC News website, it's not something I stumbled across on my own. But I think it's a worthy site to pimp, since it's fun, too).

I see a lot of it here, and I also get a lot of it when I mention I don't drive anymore. "Well, *huff huff* I live in the country/commute a long distance/have a dozen kids!!1!"

In a nutshell: A South Dakota domestic abuse shelter has been hijacked and utterly destroyed by the profiteers of the rape trade. Pretty Bird Woman House is looking to come back stronger than ever with a new facility, but they're only at 18% of their goal, with time running out until the Jan 31st deadline.
