Sigh. I'm having one of those days where I'm perfectly happy and content and pleasant by myself, on my own, doing my own thing, but as soon as someone interrupts me it's like, I KEEL YOU, BIATCH! Some days I just get like that--sounds seem harsher, textures seem rougher, my temper is shorter.

Not only that, but I was also completely useless today. But it felt good. Played Neoquest II most of the day while musing over the children's book draft. I got some really good suggestions on chapter one last night, as to how to reorganize the whole thing so that half the characters don't assault you in the first paragraph (which is what the [livejournal.com profile] writer_girls pointed out as well). I'll probably rewrite it before I post the rest of it. Which did not, incidentally, get workshopped, because my mother offered to print me all the copies I needed to bring, and when I got to class I checked the envelope, chapters 2 and 3 were completely not there ("Oh... there were three attachments?"). Serves me right for 1) not checking the envelope and 2) living at home, I guess.

Rereading Lemony Snicket #2, because it's a nice break from Uncle Tom's Cabin, which is not only morally awkward for the modern reader, but badly written to boot.

Still struggling with Black Ribbon.

Going to go take a bubblebath.

Other People?

Are stupid.

I'm sorry; I don't know how they got in here. I'll go call the Orkin Man.

See, here's why other people are stupid: "I don't feel so great right now. I'd just like to be left alone. Please?" And then they do everything but leave me alone, and wonder why I spaz. It's like these people are from Opposite Planet or something.

So you wouldn't recommend Uncle Tom's cabin then? Someone told me to read it sometime back! What is it about it that you don't like?

Well, to be fair, I'm not even halfway through it yet, and it's interesting in a historical sense. I think really that it's the endless use of dialect in the dialogue that drives me nuts, and the idea that even an anti-slavery text like this is still completely condescending.

Now you'vepiqued my curiosity. I might just have to read it.

Well, you probably should, just for the cultural experience if nothing else. And you might even like it. But if you don't... don't say I didn't warn you. ;)

Wow! You play Neopets? You are even cooler than I thought! :D (I'm soleta_nf or harrys_potter on there.)

And Lemony Snicket is awesome. I'm just getting into those books, after the movie hooked me.
