Wow, have I not updated since Friday? Huh. Mostly I've been writing, reading and swimming this week. Not a vacation from the internet, precisely, but a vacation from journaling at any rate.

Also, I think I just sucked my mother into the wonderful world of Harry Potter books. MOO HA HA.

P.S. From [livejournal.com profile] akathorne: "Paid users can get three free days because of the power outage. You have to go to that page and claim the days, though, they won't do it automatically for you."

I can't wait to see what your mother thinks of the books!

How did you suck your mom in?

Well, she's seen all the movies, in a half-paying-attention kind of way (well, she did see OOTP with me in the theater), and she watched the hour-long JKR Dateline interview with me, and finally I just casually "left" my copy of Sorcerer's Stone on the coffee table, since I know she likes to read in the evenings when nothing decent's on TV. She was laughing at how transparent a tactic it was, until I pointed out that *she* was transparent enough that I knew it would work.

Hey, Cleolinda, would you please direct folks over to http://www.myspace.com/adamthekitten the next time you post a linkspam? I know you love animals and the exposure this page would get from your journal would really help. Thanks so much!

Mmm, Harry Potter. I'm still working on sucking some of my friends into it. But I will. *cackles evilly*

Unless you count DH, which I prefer to pretend didn't happen.

Bah, you got her to start reading them? I got my mom a few pages into the Spanish version of the first book. That was a year ago. She's still not done. In fact, she's not even on the second chapter yet.

I think my mom started reading them after the third movie, when I told her the book was a lot better. (She didn't really understand what was going on, and I had to explain it to her, so eventually I just told her to read the book.) And she's read all of them since. She still hasn't read the first or second one though...

Given that my Internet connection was down for the past two weeks, the LJ blackout kind of had perfect timing for me. Or uh... something.... I guess.

I'm going to miss reading your entries, you know? Not having read DH yet (actually, I haven't read HBP yet, so heh), I'll have to skip most of them and/or save them for when I'm out of the spoiler-gallows. Thank you for being so respectful and diligent with keeping the Potter spoilers behind the cuts and all that. :)

Cleolinda,

Have you seen this youtube video?
http://www.blueegg.com/blog/2007/7/27/unchained-goddess.go

I thought you might like it, and I did a ljseek to check to see if people have mentioned it already. To my knowledge, they haven't.

[full disclosure: I work for the company in question.]

Regards,
BT

I have been trying -so hard- to get my dad to read the HP books. He enjoys the movies, and I am just like no no no no! Now he's taken to saying he'll read the books after all the movies. *facepalm*

I've been dying to get my mom to read those books.

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting this link (http://www.active.com/donate/ltnPhilad/2158_annapiaia) in your next round of linkspam? My aunt was diagnosed with leukemia about six months ago. She really depended on the Leukemia and Lymphona Society for information and so she wants to raise money for them as a way to thank them for all of the information and support they've given her and our family. Each member of the family has a donation page, and that one's mine. We all have a personal goal of $100, which I would love to hit. If anyone could spare even a dollar to the cause, I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.
