The what the hell are the Ethan Haas sites about? I don't know about Ethan Haas Was Wrong, but Ethan Haas Was Right obviously has a good deal of manpower (and money?) behind it.

So where do we go now? Well, apparently another codename for the movie is "Slusho," previously mentioned on Abrams' show Alias, and some enterprising soul (I forget where I saw this) googled "Slusho" and came up with http://slusho.jp. I don't know what "Noriko Yoshida" has to do with it, but supposedly she invented Slusho, but also has an IMDB page. Also, "But tragedy struck for the Smallest Whale! Noriko set off on a sea adventure to find the greatest, most tastiest ingredient to the world, and was never heard from again!" Cheerful!

Her deliciousness made her loved throughout many towns and villages on Honshu!

Ganu also liked to experiment, but not with the beverage-making enterprise that killed his mother, but for science!

And one fateful day, he and his teammates discovered a deep sea ingredient unique to anything else!!! And as he did drink lots and losts of the ingredient, Ganu grew from a small fish into an enormous whale!!! Because the ingredient was discovered on the deep ocean floor, under amazing pressure and in the most extreme cold, Ganu knew he had to serve the ingredient in a near-frozen state to preserve its freshness!!

And then some random sea creature drank some and ravaged New York!! I don't know, I'm just saying!!!

("Ganu Yoshida," by the way, does not get any results on Google. I don't know that it anagrams out to anything particularly interesting either, although "Unsaid Gay Ho" is somewhat compelling.)

Since I managed (momentarily) to get over my phone dread on Sunday, I figured, what the hell, let's make an ass of ourselves and use the Slusho feedback email![!!]

(The only other thing I noticed, really, was an AKM fraternity paddle [00:48], which is a bit odd for an honor society, but okay. If you want to scope it out yourself, I'd suggest looking at the first half of the trailer, particularly the walls of whatever apartment it is, and whatever's on the guy's fridge. There's also a map on the wall in the same frame as the paddle.)

You know, on one hand the trailer really peaked my curiosity but on the other hand I never got into Alias and was glad about it after Lost aggravated me enough to stop watching after a season and a half and hasn't drawn me back in since. My theory is that whoever's running the Haas stuff emailed all those movie sites and claimed it was related to Cloverfield; I can't imagine 1) people randomly stumbling across it and 2) making that connection. Which is why I want to know what it's for, so I can avoid that product/service, and who's behind it, so I can thwap them upside the head.

I was hoping to find some small bit of insight on the film at work (a movie theatre)... See, they write the names of which trailers are on each movie on these white boards that are on the projectors. So I took a look...

Ganu, on the other hand, is not a name at all (nor is it a word in Japanese). I'm not sure if that has any significance or if they just picked some random letters they thought sounded Japanese. But the other names (Ryouta and Noriko) are real, so...

This was kind of mentioned in the Cloverfield thread at Snarkfest, but one of the members of the SA Forums has a cousin working on the promotional team for the film. He obviously can't say much, but he did say that people should keep their eyes open at Comic-Con:

"Let me give you a hint: the people behind the marketing for this movie assume that if you see something lying unattended at comic-con, you will assume it's okay to steal."

So I guess we'll definitely get some new information by then.

What's amusing to me is that nuking all Haas stuff still leaves my weirdo Hindu theory relatively intact - but it's still easily knocked out of the ring. The SLUSHO site honestly reminds me of THE STUFF, a terribly, wonderfully bad 80's movie about evil yogurt.

I can't really be more specific about this, but I have been told that the idea of something "from the deep" would not be inconsistent with what the production appears to be about. (It sounds like the "ingredient on the ocean floor" aspect of Slusho is the big hint.) Does that help any?

ok, also watch the youtube videos on there too. One of them is a guy saying that the date is "January 21st, 2006, and this is a small shot for us but we're gonna give it a go" or something. Then there's a HUGE FUCKING EXPLOSION. Ok, now, as far as I can tell, the actual video has nothing to do with the site (director name: OptimusMatrix), there's also some guy screwign around with a ping pong ball in a weird space, The Beach Boys video for "Don't Worry Baby" (with the ocean and surfing), and a person on a human slingshot in some...part of the US.

So I went to see Transformers (again) last night, and was really excited to get to watch the trailer again, because my computer has decided not to recognize the fact that speakers or headphones are plugged in, and hence, no sound for me, but anyway.........
Almost everyone I saw the trailer with is convinced that the movie is actually a Godzilla movie.... since only the one website is actually offcial any chance of that? My stance is that if it was Godzilla, they'd tell us, cause it's GODZILLA... but they're convinced, what do you think?

1) I think you're right about telling us, and 2) the rights have reverted back to the original Godzilla people, and after what happened with the previous remake, they're not letting them go for the time being. Same reason it's not Voltron: another studio has the rights.
