Finally seeing _V_ (on cable) and rereading your _V_ parody (which made more sense this time) inspired me to get my first new icon in ages.

I thought maybe it could be Grindhouse.

That might take 30 minutes, though.

Alas, I have not seen _300_, so I will not get your jokes. (Not that I got all your jokes even in your book.) The only "recent" movies I've seen are _An Inconvenient Truth_ and _Tsotsi_.

Anyway ... I want to link to [livejournal.com profile] m15m on my profile page, but I wanted to check with you first to make sure it's okay. I don't want to take CREDIT for anything, I just want to include it among the websites I, uh, "promote," for lack of a better word.

I look forward to reading _300 in 15_ (that's 20, right?) even though I won't understand it.

Woot! *goes off to read*

By the way, your book has a new title? And cover (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/0575079894/qid=1122743553/ref=dp_image_0/203-8201932-7679120?ie=UTF8&n=266239&s=books&qid=1122743553)? What's up with that?

I haven't seen 300, but this was hilarious any way. Alas, poor Faramir. :)

Hooray! I sat in that movie with only one thought on my mind: Cleo is going to enjoy this

My understanding is that that's the paperback edition--which I wasn't consulted about, btw. I mean, other than the fact of there being one, which is good and in the contract and everything.

From: [identity profile] particle-person.livejournal.com
Ah hah. I wasn't objecting or anything, by the way. Just curious. Also, congrats that it made paperback, unless you mean that the contract stated from the beginning that there had to be paperback.

Oh good, I am so glad I was not the only one who saw lotr throughout that whole movie. I saw it with some friends who were no lotr fans and they just didn't get it when afterwards I ranted about how 300 just ripped off lotr what with Faramir and the Oliphaunts and basically everything. You are a girl after my own heart Cleo. Brilliant.

Yay! I finally got your book (http://rinabeana.livejournal.com/410586.html)! I was in England visiting friends, so I made sure to order a copy from Waterstone's for pick-up. I had every intention of taking a picture of the book on the shelf for you, but I couldn't find any in the store, so I just settled for enjoying my very own copy. It's fantastic!

Seriously, that's like half the reason I go anymore. I sit there and predict the jokes. If I could remember to write them down, I'd start a betting pool.

FARAMIR: What are we fighting for?

SOME MACEDONIAN: Freedommmm?

SOME MYCENAEAN: Middle-Earth?

SOME CORINTHIAN: Scotland?

SOME ATHENIAN: A unique democracy that will give birth to the future Western Civilization?

Seriously: the old classics teacher would have just loved this, I can't tell you.

As usual, it makes me sort of wish I wanted to see '300' so I could get more of the jokes. Still, I laughed good and long most of the way through thanks to the fact that pretty much the entire movie is an Internet meme now. *wry grin*

Also! I wasn't in a big hurry to get an Amazon-UK account, but a friend noted that Powell's was able to get its hands on some copies of THE BOOK for order through their website. They supposedly had 2 left by the time I ordered mine... =)

That was the most fun I have ever had being completely confused.

Seriously, I only vaguely know the whole Sparta legend/story/thing. All I remember my history teacher saying about Spartans is "Spartans*mumblemumble*foughtpeople*mumblemumble*killedbabies*mumble*mumble*BUTTSEKS."

Curse youuu, Catholic School Systeeeem!!
