Whine, whine, whine

Well, now I'm just sad.

1. I'm not getting any mail at my Hotmail address, which is my primary. My mother tried to send me one, Vladimir tried, I tried from my Yahoo--each one got bounced back. (Weirdly, if I sent it from the Hotmail address to the Hotmail address, it went through.) The "delivery failed" message said that the email was "too big" (1 kb?) for either my email inbox (18% clear) or "the current system limits." Until I figure out what the hell is going on, I'm going to use my dailydigest at yahoo.com account. Is anyone else on Hotmail having trouble?

It's freaking me out, because I get about 5-10 new emails an hour, and now I don't even know what I'm not getting.


2. Well, here's the good news: I finally located the ACDSee (image editor) thumbnail cache that Gunther was telling me about, and it was 1.63 gig. So once I had deleted it, I had that much cleared out on Betsy, who was thrilled to actually have some breathing room again. So I cheered and went to download Kazaa again, because I've lost my favorite Pretenders CD (the one with "Ill Stand By You," meh, and my all-time favorite Pretenders song, "Night in My Veins"), WHICH I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BACK IN THE DAY, and I wanted to download a couple of the songs to have on hand again. I've had "Night in My Veins" on MP3 for a few years now, but I'd really like to have "Love Colours." And guess what? Kazaa comes up with nothing. Because no one uses it anymore, because the RIAA sucks. That's the bad news.

I'm so going to have to buy this on Half.com, aren't I?

...Whoa, 99¢? I think I just stopped complaining.


3. Oh, and I'm still mystified as to why the CHUD page with the super-exclusive Batman suit sculpt pics just vanished. Not "Oh, these turned out to be fakes," or "Oh, WB asked us to take them down"--I'm talking 404, We Have No Idea What You're Talking About. I saved them, but... I'm kinda scared to put them up now.


(Where is everyone? I'm kind of spooked... it's like a ghost town online. Even the tumbleweed is getting the hell out of Dodge. Is everyone just hiding until April Fool's blows over, or something?)

i haven't had any trouble with my hotmail account, but i keep it like 60% clear, so it's hard to say.

i heard (could be april fools?) that google is going to introduce email with 1 gig of storage! wowzers.

agree with you 100% on the internet being dead dead dead! it sucks.

I did hear on multiple news sources (Reuters, CNN) that the Google Gmail is real, and they're going to invite testers and then open it to the public. *wants*

I did just get two emails on my Hotmail, so... cross your fingers.

My hotmail account is about 60% free also, but there are times when I couldn't receive emails too.

I hate using Kazaa, not because I cannot find songs, but every time after I used it, my computer becomes screwy.

I love half.com. I'm so sad that it's going to be absorbed into eBay.

It's Thurday night, maybe people are getting a headstart on the weekend? I don't know. I haven't noticed the lack of activity myself.

I don't know about the internet (I checked my hotmail account from the local library and it was fine) but my frackin' cell phone provider's (Verizon) having issues. I tried to call my bank's 800 number to check my balance and all was well...then I tried five minutes later because I forgot something and it kept saying it couldn't do it. Freaked me out. I thought, "OK, maybe it's some kind of wacky phone-system maintenance doo-wah they do this day each month that I don't know about." Then I got home and tried it on my landline--worked like a charm.

Awww that's sucky about the hotmail. What a pain! But sometimes the free providers can have more glitches than paid services. Hope it's fixed soon.

And I know about the emptiness in LJ! I'm finding it depressing how few people are posting lately.

Go Yahoo. It's so much better. But, that being said, I had a lot of trouble with Ol' Yahoo during October last year. I think they were switching servers or something and although I was still receiving mail, I couldn't get into my email account to read it. Was most annoyed.

It's so frustrating when something like that happens. You have my sympathy. And you're right - a lot of the net seemed to disappear yesterday. Very odd.

Well, Hotmail's back now, but I'm moving all my newsletter accounts to the Yahoo address (I'm lazy, so I have every movie-related newsletter in the world, including newspaper alerts). I signed up as "interested" at gmail.com yesterday, and I hope they choose me as a tester.
