Today was eventful, in a domestic kind of way. Number one, I actually got some work done, although it was preliminary kind of stuff--printing out old notes and half-drafts, rereading and annotating, setting up a new binder for [project I'm being intentionally vague about for fear of jinxing it], etc. Meanwhile, the puppies learned to climb up the front steps by themselves and how to body-slam each other; at one point Shelby actually flipped Scout over like a turtle. And then, after George came home, Scout jumped Sam, and just when Sam had fended that attack off, Shelby pounced from behind. The puppies have learned how to tag-team, y'all.
And yes, I do have pictures, but only on my camera phone, and I can't get the phone to send them to my email. Woe, because I have pictures of all five (!) pets now.

Date: 2007-03-14 04:48 am (UTC)The hard R/soft R thing still seems a little like making things too complicated, especially since the R rating is followed by an explanation of why it's R-rated. I get why someone would want to make a distinction, but eh. Maybe lightening up on the PG-13 rating wouldn't be good either, I dunno.

Date: 2007-03-14 05:06 am (UTC)*ahem* Sorry, but I adore the first two, and Supremacy was on TV the other afternoon and I thought "aren't we due for the third movie?" and I check online and it's this summer omg yay! :D The poster is a little misleading though--apparently this one will involve as much globe trotting as the others (again: yay!).
...now that my moment of fangirling is out of the way:
As far as the hard vs soft R thing is concerned, it occurs to me that this could be best solved by adopting dual ratings similar to the 15 and 18 ones the UK uses. This could also solve the problem of those PG13 movies that often stand very close to the line without somehow becoming R. As it stands it sounds like we're in for another rehash of the X to NC-17 thing. :|

"Did I mention that I killed an Iranian spy last night? Yeah, sliced off his head with a piano wire I keep hidden in P. Monkey's belly. Isn't that right, P. Monkey? Yes it is, yes it is.

Date: 2007-03-14 02:04 pm (UTC)I've never really been able to get into Pullman's books, but I'm reading Golden Compass now, just for the movie. Nicole Kidman looks eeeevil enough to play Mrs. Coulter, direspancies in looks aside.
So, CI is telling Smith's story? Law&Order already did that with Daniel Smith (before Anna died) I wish they'd bother to make up their own plots- it's getting to be "let's prosecute celebrities that got off in real life!" So for, they've jailed Mel Gibson's fictional alter ego, and it was pathetically obvious that that was what the episode was based on. They've also done storylines on:
A starlet who came under public scrutiny for dropping her baby (and having someone who took pictures of the incident killed)
Another starlet who adopted a baby from Africa illegally (and took such poor care of him that he died, causing her to go to jail for manslaughter)
An athlete who was suspected of murdering his wife, then wrote a book about how he would have done it (and murdered the publishing assistant who tried to stop it from hitting the shelves), and
A right-wing pundit, who was shot at for her views on stem-cell research. WHo was blonde. And had a history of being controversial. She was played by Charlotte Ross, and the resemblance is uncanny/
I'm worried that, after POTC2, the third one is going to be even worse. And the second one almost put me to sleep.
