By request: a folder full of Prince icons because, as I always like to say, it didn't happen unless someone made an icon about it. Don't forget, downloads of the Prince mp3 rips are in the previous entry, and downloads of the video clips are here. ETA: [livejournal.com profile] txvoodoo has also provided a full-length video (avi) download here. Thanks!

(Speaking of Prince--yes, again--I love this: he brought his dancers to the press conference.)

(Note on that last link: the wiki is still in progress, but... that's kind of what a wiki is. So there are lots of broken links and empty placeholder pages. Now I just have the "don't credit me, credit dragonscholar!" page I wanted. I did, however, go through and put in annotations for three or four "Movies in Fifteen Minutes" for fun, though.)

Rubber...sidewalks.

I swear, I may just lock myself inside with a stockpile of liquor if that becomes an issue in the upcoming mayoral election.

Huh. I wonder if they're putting rubber in whatever mix they're paving parking lots with around here lately? 'Cause the new stuff they're using has an ungodly stench that is very rotten rubber-like, and it lasts months after they've finished.

I'm going to preface with this comment with "If I recall correctly" because I'm too lazy this morning to go look up the actual details.

The answer to that is yes and no. Lots of places are starting to put ground up tires in parking lots. And the sidewalks use ground up tires as well, but they're processed differently. The benefit to using rubber sidewalks is that they don't break as easily, lay down quicker, and can be replaced with greater ease when they do finally wear out or need to be moved. It's like having a modular sidewalk.

Nowak raced from Houston to Orlando wearing diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate, authorities said...During a check of the parking lot, an officer followed Nowak and watched her throw away a bag containing the wig and BB gun. They also found a steel mallet, a 4-inch folding knife, rubber tubing, $600 and garbage bags inside a bag Nowak was carrying when she was arrested, authorities said.

That astronaut...Oh, Jesus. You just know she's going to set women in the field back by like, twenty years. "Y'see, fellas...women are too emotional for space travel. Does funny things to their ovaries, and then they drive to Florida wearin' diapers and carryin' lead pipes. We oughta just let 'em cook and clean up after the men."

Eh, I don't think it's that bad. There's a lot of political pressure to keep the space program equal-handed. They can't afford to regress when they're in the public eye the way they are.

Take heed. It looks as if it has the character called 'Caretaker' in it.

I hope this is true.

In the comics, Caretaker's idea of fun is taking uneeded detours past dead bodies in order to scared the newbies. How in the hell can you not just love a guy that that?

OMG! I absoultely agree with you. Addiction is a serious problem for millions of people, so I definitely appreciate people getting treatment for their addictions and problems. That being said, I think lots of people in Hollywood are trying to pull a "It's not what you do, it's what you're seen doing". Picking your AA or Rehab locations based on their proximity to your favorite nightclub is not going to work. Also- AA and Rehab are unlikely to cure you of being a fame whore or a biggot, so that's out too. "I'm getting treatment" should not be a catch-all/mend-all for the general lack of character that celebrities, politicians, church leaders, and role models have been so proud to flaunt in recent years. It really burns my bisquits, if you know what I mean. And now I sound like some CRAAAAAAAAZY moralist.

In no particular order:

The Prince icons are faboo!

That snowleopard is so ky00te and FUZZY!!

Still looking forward to "Ghost Rider". It should be FUN!

The astronaut story made me think of this exchange from "Dr. Strangelove":

President Merkin Muffley: "General Turgidson! When you instituted the human reliability tests, you *assured* me there was *no* possibility of such a thing *ever* occurring!"
General "Buck" Turgidson: "Well, I, uh, don't think it's quite fair to condemn a whole program because of a single slip-up, sir."

I think NASA should take a new look at its astronaut program. :)

So my brother needs me to order a book from Amazon.fr, a French book he needs for research
for the novels he is writing. (Yes, novels, with an "s"!)
And you know, by golly, it seems Amazon.fr just happens to sell books in English too.
So it looks like, possibly, I might be ordering YOUR book at the same time.
HEE!!
