Wall Street Concerns for Potter Seven in 2007. Speaking of which, we now have a title. Warning: if you want to figure it out yourself, scroll down one line at a time until you get to #10, the last instruction. The answer is about a line after that, so be careful.

I'm not really a fan of the title. Who knows, it may grow on me, but I don't like it at the moment.

Seconded. It's a bit contradictory, isn't it? O_o

It also makes me think of a kids book. Not in the way that HP is targetted at young audiences in a sense, but more the books aimed at 5-7 year olds. "What adventure will Harry go on in this book, kiddies?!"

Well, it's not "Attack of the Clones," but it's easily the worst of the seven.

I was kinda getting attached to "Potter Seven" myself. That'd be kinda neat, if JKR got all minimalist suddenly.

Kind of like Lemony Snicket with "The End"?

From: [identity profile] sigma7.livejournal.com
Exactly. Or "Pötterdämmerung" or "HP7" or something completely breaking with convention. That'd be scary. And have the whole style of the book minimalist, like Hemingway or Beckett. God, that'd be no end of baffling, wouldn't it? Tears, across the world, a never-ending river of tears.

And I added the key words from the new title to the Harry Potter Title Generator (http://tech.jmc.ksu.edu/phpnonsense/phpnonsense.php?template=harrypotter). It's now possible to get the new title, albeit mathematically unlikely (let's see... a .0149% chance, all told).

So much better.

And then the movie would be promoted with the name "P7." ... And the urology jokes would make it all worth it, really.

Do I want to see Daniel Radcliffe doing public service announcements for routine prostate checks? No. But I'm sure there's an LJ community dedicated to those who do.

Is this related to the idea that if you speak it aloud (or put it in print), you have thereby caused it to exist?

Bloomsbury have confirmed... Time to start building those reading bunkers! Wish mine was already finished, so I could avoid the fallout when my sister hears the title*.

Her reaction: "The what..???? The what????? HP and the... the WHAT????"

*I'm trying to teach her the true meaning of Christmas which is NOT spoiling on me, little miss i-read-faster-than-you so have to tell who dies at 3am when OotP AND HBP come out. So yes I will tell her, because that's the sort of petty vindictive person I am. Plus I want to see her face when I utter the d-word^. he he he

^see! yam totally spoiler conscious in real life!

Noooo...nothing ominous about that title at all

Really it doesn't roll off the tongue very well, does it? I say it and think "that doesn't sound quite right".

The title seems kind of...I don't know, is generic the right word? It just seems out of place on a Harry Potter book.

It just looks like the typo to end all typos to me. If I just randomly came across that in a chatroom I'd think, "Huh. I wonder what that was supposed to mean."

Watch, in another few weeks, after all the publicists and editors have read all the negative feedback, someone will go "jk y'all!" and change it.

I hope.

They didn't do that the last time, what makes you think they'll do it this time? I remember the fallout from the title was just the same if not worse two years ago and nothing changed. I guess people need to have something to talk about till they get angry at what is actually written in the book. XD

Hm. A hallow (noun) is a saint. So these are saints that are...deathly? Maybe Rowling is going to go Indiana Jones on us and have beautiful saints that suddenly turn into death's heads and suck off all your skin? Or maybe a Hallow is a new creature that's the opposite of a Dementor?

Hallows or Hollows? Yahoo says Hollows, which makes the whole thing entirely different (although still ungrammatical -- I think she might have been channelling Lemony Snicket and/or JRR Tolkien).

Hallows seem also to be magical items in Anglo-Saxon legend, and they echo strongly of horcrux. Any thoughts?

Not too much of a fan. As I said somewhere else, the previous titles made me think "Oooo wonder what that means!" where as this one read "Harry Potter and the Dangerous Stuff." The book itself should be good, though, the title's don't effect that. Now give us a release date, please.

Okay so I personally think this title is extremely irritating as per grammar purposes, but the title itself....

well. I'm sure it will relate to something in the book, but I think it's going to be misleading for a lot of people and the intranet rumors will start flying ASAP.

Does anyone know what the word "Hallows" is actually referring to? It's an old Arthurian legend. http://www.mystical-www.co.uk/arthuriana2z/h.htm#HAL There's a site if you want to check it out. It's a really interesting topic! I know Jo has knowledge of this, so here's my theory, which probably matches everyone else's theories: the title, the book, and the outcome have to do with the Horcruxes. So sit back until you read the book lol

ooooh. wait! Possibility of it having something to do with the four founders of the school? maybe items belonging to them or something. I don't know...

Well, my mom OED'd the word hallow, and we got the saint bit, but it's also a loud shout in hunting or something like that.

So, the deatch cry of HP? of the internet? LOL
