Cranked out 3000-something words today, and I was impressed that I cranked out anything two days in a row without the aid of a hypomanic episode, quite frankly. I picked yet another death scene--more of a finding-the-body scene--to write today, and ended up just metaphorically throwing up my hands and typing in brackets, "This makes no sense. Logic it out later. Make it work." I'm having a hard time settling on what music to listen to, though.

Having Tim Gunn check in on me periodically would be completely awesome, by the way.

Also, I seem to have had a sudden influx of new readers--where are y'all coming from?

Administration: Detainees have no rights. They're just not even trying to hide the fascism anymore, are they?

CNN: "Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has taken the first step in a 2008 presidential bid, filing papers to create an exploratory committee, Republican sources tell CNN."

From [livejournal.com profile] kestrel127: "Borat beaten up, rescued by House." This is still not as good as the original headline, which was "Borat spanked by angry Yank."

"Well, there go the last lingering threads of my heterosexuality": Scarlett Johansson dominating Dita von Teese.

Billy Idol has a Christmas album.

From Wilhelmina on Snarkfest: Kiwi, an animator's master thesis project. Pixar needs to snap this one up sofast. Warning: Sad.

Also, responses to the Flying Spaghetti Monster link I posted in the previous entry made me realize that not everyone knows the glories of Pastafarianism. Behold, and be touched by His Noodly Appendage.

3000 words today? You're making progress. I must say, I was a bit concerned, but I believe you really are making it work. Carry on.

There you go, a little Tim Gunn to spur you on.

... dominating Dita von Teese.

I only heard of DvT a few minutes ago, while reading the current Travel + Leisure issue,'when polled about what she airline onboard comfort. She says never a corset, never! but garter belts and spike heels, yes. I'm trying to imagine the welts on my legs if I wore a garter belt for a ten hour transatlantic flight.

I'm trying to think who gave her a fashion spread recently--it was either Vogue or Vanity Fair, and I'm almost leaning more towards VF for some reason, even though that's the less photo-laden of the two. She does a really good job of incarnating that paradoxically chaste burlesque queen--the one who's all taste and glamour instead of vulgarity. Also, I think she recently married Marilyn Manson.

It's funny you should mention death scenes, because I just got home from watching Stranger Than Fiction, where Emma Thompson's character had some very...entertaining ways of researching ways to kill off characters.

Not sure what you're looking for, but I've been listening to this alot as I've been writing mine.

Creepy piano driven song. Good luck with your novel!

Another article on the story, blunter headline:

US: Immigrants may be held indefinitely (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061113/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/detainees_lawsuits_4)

Well, speaking as a permanent resident: fuck you too US. I knew about the law already, but seeing it written out like it was in the articles just...I can barely even see straight right now.

Nice work with the NaNo! Have you seen [livejournal.com profile] timgunn? He doesn't make personal entries, but if you friend him he leaves comments in your journal, apparently. He makes posts at [livejournal.com profile] my_slate from time to time (it's the character development community for a roleplay called The Blank Slate) and tells us which of our characters need to make it work.

And damn. Our country isn't just going to hell in a handbasket, it's going to special hell in a handbasket.

The best part of the Borat article (other than the Yank-spankin' title) was the very last line: 'A one-armed resident said: "It’s disgusting"'

But the fully-armed residents were pleased?

Good luck with NaNo. Don't know if it'll help, but my favourite painting music is either Metric or Van Morrison - I should poll people about this on my journal actually, I could use some inspiration!

Well Cleo- on all your new witnesses to creativity and suffering; you're obviously doing something right because as you scroll through your fandoms comments, the quality, humor, intelligence, etc of the avatars is just AMAZING! Talk about good taste- too many good ones to count!
I mean- your jounal and websites serve as a fantastic place for people with the same interests to gather and giggle over our own versions of internet-inside jokes. I'm so glad that I'm surrounded by such good company in my loving of Project Runway (yay Tim), Amazing Race (Yay Phil's pants), Lost, Borat, platonic or otherwise attraction to awesome people, Movies, Snark, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Star Wars (shhh), Britishness, Cowboys, Pirates, Space, Battlestar Galactic, TWOP... etc.

Teh Internets just make me feel like the Geek really did inherit the Earth.

Heh. The best part is, y'all are so well-behaved 99.9% of the time. I think I only had two problem commenters, and that was before I turned off anon commenting. I never have to regulate on anyone; it's always peaceful and intelligent. Which is why I'm not sure why people have told me that they fear The Wrath of Cleo, because I'm not sure I've ever had to break it out.

Oh my gosh, I love Rudy Giuliani! That would be a tough vote if he was in the running.

The only thing I have to say to the Scarlett/Dita thing is a head cock. Scarlett looks good. I like the one of her alone in the pants.
Dita just looks...off to me. As in awkward in the photo, not anything else.
