Oops, I was wrong--I had started writing today's first entry yesterday, so today is actually day six. Because I know you care.

[livejournal.com profile] sigma7: "Comics creator extraordinaire and LJ-er Lea Hernandez, aka [livejournal.com profile] divalea, just lost her house, artwork and several pets in a house fire. Thankfully she and the family made it out unhurt, but obviously they can use any help they can get. Paypal info here, but prayers and good vibes are also good. She's one of the good ones, so keep her and the family in your thoughts."

Design for new WTC towers unveiled. I don't quite have an opinion on any of it yet; I just know that it is destined, by law, to cause a lot of yelling and arguing.

Mice don't actually like cheese. Instead, scientists say, they prefer grains and fruits to something like cheese that they wouldn't find in their natural habitat, so it would be better to bait a mousetrap with cereal. I hear the free-range Froot Loop works well.

Sean Bean and Tilda Swinton to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The most intriguing thing about the whole project to me, though, is that the cowriter--i.e., the person updating from Shakespeare--is apparently the same actor who was Mark Antony in that hilarious-awful Empire thing I never finished recapping (shhhhh) and was Brad Pitt's right hand man in Troy. Which is... something else I wrote about.

Picture from the Hairspray set. I am not looking forward to the time when we will be bombarded with trailers and posters and commercials of this movie, because... that ain't right. The triangular hair is all wrong for a jaw like that, for starters. Bouffant, Travolta, bouffant!

Guerilla artist Banksy tampered with 500 copies of Paris Hilton's debut album "across 48 record shops in the UK by replacing the CD with his own remixes featuring such titles as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For? as well as swapping out her picture on the CD sleeve with one of her topless and [another] with a dog's head." Seriously, click through to the link where they have scans of the tampered CD booklet. Not only is it priceless, but I would rather pay for that than I would the real thing.

You know you're a geek when you get this joke: "Beren For Congress: He'll clean up government single-handed!"

I would call for Banksy to be knighted, but I think that would miss the entire point.

Also: Vincent Regan is almost always better than whatever he is in. And has steely blue eyes. So I'm hoping for the best.

Also also: Whatever happened to Jonathan Cake?

Best part of the Banksy story: HMV's response here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5310416.stm). Methinks the spokesman is not a Paris fan. (Virgin's spokesman doesn't seem terribly upset either.)

*nods* PB works. So does cereal - I did pretty well with a mini-wheat wedged on to the little trigger thing - made it harder to run off with.

Not just Banksy. Give some love to Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse (http://www.nme.com/news/gnarls-barkley/24222) as he was part of this prank. Here's a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxUl9Mxbh1E) of how it was done. It's just a damn shame that those who re-bought these CDs pretty much doubled the amount of Paris Hilton CDs bought since it used the same barcode (they were already paid for; it should be free or at least taken away from her billboard totals). That CD is going for a lot of money (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200025360024&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:US:11) (but not as much as when it first came out; I saw one going for US$1200 -- who knows? maybe it was this one, but now priced down). I want one too.

I'm a geek, and would totally vote for Beren.

Also? I'm so excited about the Macbeth. Sean Bean is one of my favorites, and I'm liking Tilda Swinton more and more. (I just hope it stays close to the original play.) Besides Throne of Blood, the only Macbeth version I've seen had as Macbeth the guy who played Jesus in Jesus of Nazareth, which my mom used to watch all the time. It was a little unnerving.

So, although there is no way in the world that Paris Hilton should have a cd out, I despise so-called "art" of this sort. I mean, come on. Isn't removing an actual product that people are buying and replacing it with something else, oh I don't know, fraud, theft, something along those lines?

Date: 2006-09-08 02:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Apparently they paid for the CDs, doctored them, and put them back. So technically, those CDs were paid for twice. I have a link I'm putting in the next spam entry where spokesmen for two different chains note that no one's returned any or asked for a refund.

Sean Bean and Tilda Swinton to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth

The most intriguing thing about the project to me is whether this is going to involve the Bean wearing that mesh shirt (http://www.full-of-beans.net/macbeth/friedman-prod/001.jpg) he wore for the play.

Ok, yes so I'm a wee bit...sad..about the Tilda/Sean Bean Macbeth, because...well..Keanu has wanted to do this for years, and when he and Tilda were doing all their publicity for Constantine it really looked like it might happen. Oddly enough, it was also going to be filmed in Scotland.

My question is, if they're filming in Scotland, will Sean Bean use his natural accent, as he did in the play, or adopt a Scottish accent to match (presumably) Tilda's, since she is Scottish.

Yeah, OK, I saw the Bean tread the boards and it was good. But I was still rooting for Keanu.

Mice also like chocolate. My ex-boyfriend found this out when he left an easter egg (in a bag) on the floor of his room, and found it half nibbled (foil and all) the next morning. He then listened out the next night and heard them again. After that he baited the traps with chocolate. He was quite successful :X

So do hamsters apparently. When ours got away, which it tended to do often, it ate half of my sister's little valentine's chocolate heart.

However, it also ate half of its plastic water-bottle, so no accounting for taste.

He's lucky our cats didn't find him before we did.

cheers

Ok...
9/11 towers...not a fan.

I don't really know Sean Bean. Tilda Swinton is good. I <3 Macbeth so much, I hope they don't screw it up. It would make me so very angry if it was bad. Because people hate Shakespeare enough as it is. And Macbeth is just a CRAZY CRAZY good play. I need to see it staged someday soon.
