Okay, geniuses: Firefox keeps crashing on me. I thought that was the whole point of getting it, that it crashed less and was less resistant to viruses...? I've run several spyware checks, a virus check, and I'm about to do another error check. (Yes, I have the new update.) What the hell is going on?

I'm not saying that this is the next Snakes on a Plane, except that I kind of am. Is it not brilliant? I would totally go see this.

[livejournal.com profile] la_sonnambula: "Snakes On A Plane necklace!" (STOP WITH THE EXPENSIVE SNAKE STUFF! I can't afford this!)

[livejournal.com profile] mermaidrain: "I try to write reviews of everything I get out to see and I hide everything behind cuts to protect the innocent from spoilers. It can be found at [livejournal.com profile] mers_moviesnrvw if you want to check it out. I have the unique perspective of someone who is studying film (I hope to be involved in the industry someday in the near future) and I try to add tidbits about the screenwriters or the cinematography or other things I notice about the more artsy aspects of movies. Perhaps some of your fans would be interested in reading it. I try to get out at least once a week to the theater so I try to keep it pretty updated. There's a healthy mix of what I watch as well."

[livejournal.com profile] thunderhowl: "Fishclock is an arts collective based in Edmonton, Canada. It's part blog, part group-of-friends/writers, part humor site. They've just started a podcast serial redio show called Orphans, based on superheros. Some of the site is funny, and some is a little shocking, but, they're my friends, and I enjoy it, so maybe I thought some of it would appeal to you and your readers as well."

Chris Cornell to perform the Casino Royale title song. Huh.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer. I have a feeling I'm about to drive away half my readership, but... the Turtles are a teensy bit after my time. My sister watched the cartoon, I'm pretty sure. I was old enough to think it looked stupid. So... yeah.

[livejournal.com profile] characterhate: Now Elmo can be a mean drunk all the time.

Movie pictures: Michelle Pfeiffer and (I think) Sienna Miller in Stardust; Keira Knightley in Silk and Atonement; Clive Owen and Cate Blanchett in the Elizabeth sequel.

P.S. Migraines suck.

I don't really see the need for a TMNT movie. The Transformers idea has enough steam in it to justify a new movie, but TMNT? They had three live action movies already!

The Turtles were kind of a one-trick pony and I think they jumped the shark about the time they got teleported into the midst of an intergalactic war, but the original B&W comic was actually pretty darn good. There were some clever riffs on Daredevil and other comics of the time.

The cartoon, wherein they were transformed into pizza-gobbling Valley-speaking surf ninjas, was indeed pretty stupid.

I think the new animated movie is to be more in line with the comic.

I liked the cartoon. I mean, they ate entire slices of pizza in one bite! That takes YEARS of ninja training.

That Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle trailer reminded me of the Transformers trailer for some reason... Probably because my brother used to watch them both and I found them extremely annoying... Anywho, the Transformer's trailer is here (http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=transformers) if you wanna watch it.

Firefox used to crash on me when I first got it, which was weird. It stopped, but it still froze on me all the time and often wouldn't let me switch tabs (although I think that was partly because I don't have much RAM).

I use Flock (http://www.flock.com/) now. It's built on the Firefox engine but it runs better for me and has some nifty features that let it link up to photo sites and news sites, etc.

but then, if firefox is crashing for you then anything built around it might do the same, I suppose. Hope it gets sorted, sounds really annoying =/.

Huh. I have plenty of RAM, so I don't know what the problem is...

Are you running a video, a song, or Java on Firefox? I found that those tend to crash FF easily.

HA HA HA. Oh God, Black Sheep looks awesome.

Chris Cornell doing a Bond song, huh? Interesting.

Also, TMNT rules, come on. If you can like carnivorous sheep, you can like ninja turtles.

The problem may be that I didn't develop my sense of awesome until I was in high school, after TMNT were pretty much over. Really, I credit MST3K for showing me the light.

It might be worth getting rid of all but your most essential extensions/downloads and seeing if that helps. Of course, if you don't have that many to start with, then it's a mystery.... You don't have, like, 20 tabs up or anything, do you?

Date: 2006-07-27 11:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Nope--generally it's crashed when I had a message board and Yahoo Mail open, and it would crash right as I moved back to the Yahoo Mail tab. Like, just two tabs. Sometimes three. I'm going to try using Firefox for everything *but* email and see if it still crashes, at which point I'd at least isolate the cause, maybe.

And yeah, I downloaded a dozen extensions or so, realized I didn't like or wouldn't use half of them, and got rid of them. Actually, I've probably kept more than that, and I'm going through and figuring out which ones I love and which ones are just kind of dead weight, which might help.

I feel like shortening the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to just TMNT is an attempt to make the movie sound cooler or something, like LOTR or POTC. As a kid I was always a Turtle fan and completely loved the 1990 movie but this new one looks lame.

I just installed the new update, and mine's broken too. I'm actually wondering if there was something wrong with the update itself. Everything was running smoothly until I restarted Firefox to install it, and now nothing will load. I've even tried deleting and reinstalling and still nothing. I'm getting very frustrated indeed.

Sometimes I think some of the extensions mix with each other in bad ways, so you might want to uninstall all of them, and see if it still crashes, and then add them in one at a time and see how things go (or cut down to the absolute essentials).

Migraines do suck :( Until you get superstrong drugs that make them go away FOREVER (hopefully).

Date: 2006-07-28 12:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sawcat.livejournal.com
Funny, I downloaded and installed the update and have no problems with firefox. The only time I've had problems it was extension related. So you might try turning them off/removing them and slowly add them back to find the problem.

Did you say you'd installed the Yahoo toolbar? When I tried it when I was still on IE, it wouldn't load at times, so nothing loaded = I removed it right away.

Chris Cornell....excellent. Will look forward to hearing that song.

Totally hearing you on the migraine thing--I'm just getting over one. I just forced myself out of bed/the house today after spending like four days playing hermit.

If you get them at all frequently and/or badly, talk to the doctor about a perscription for medication? I'm on Imitrex. It's great.
