I have a MIGRAINE and my mouse DIED. Do you KNOW how hard it is to check your email with only a tab button? So I'm on someone else's computer at the moment just to get through my inbox, and then I'm going to find something to stab myself in the head with. AUGH.

Ugh, I remember that from when I used to have Web TV. *pets comfortingly*

Wow, I was totally about to lend my condolences on the death of your pet, while wondering why you skipped over the issue so quickly.. then realized you were discussing your computer mouse. :P

Sorry to hear about the headache and computer problems though :/ I've tried to access things without a mouse before and it's very angst-inducing D:

Ditto, definitely thought a cute little pet died!

I'm sorry about your mouse and migraine. I got sick of mouse troubles, and eventually moved to optic mouse, and then to tablet.

Hey! Want me to send you my optic? X3

Slightly related -- my first day at work here, a third of my keyboard stopped working while I was in the middle of sending an email to IT about another computer issue. I tried to continue the email and tell them about the keyboard too, but you'd be surprised how hard it is to explain that without the use of any keys right of the J. (I eventually broke down and called them and they brought me a new one.)

Heeeee. For a moment I misread that, as my head is about to explode, and thought you said you had NO keys but J. "jjjjjj jjjj! jjjjj!!"

Well, I do think they would have gotten the impression that SOMETHING was wrong, though they might have just assumed it was my mental state instead of my keyboard.

ouch. I know the feeling (on both accounts). though, with me and as far the mouse-issue goes, it's usually the batteries. that's also the reason I keep a spare mouse at hand, just in care. I don't suppose that's your case too, isn't it?

ps. don't stab yourself in the head! it isn't very good for migraine and the side-effects are sort of horrible. seriously, I hope you get better soon.

Batteries? I don't think my mouse even *has* batteries. The cursor will move up and down, but not left and right, and it's not the cord that's stuck, and I've cleaned off the rubber ball inside, so...

Heh I think that sometimes the mouse ends up allowing for that pillow of dirt on the side wheels, and when you remove it (or them), the sensors are too far for the mouse to do contact. I've had a mouse die because of that, or at least that was my diagnostic.

And that icon gives *me* a migraine. No, don't look at it!

You might check the rollers *inside* the mouse where the ball rolls around. I've seen many a mouse whose rollers are all be-gunktified. Use a paper clip to scrape the gunk off the rollers, and a cotton swap with some rubbing alcohol on the tip to make the rollers shiny.

From: [identity profile] angelene.livejournal.com
my mouse is cordless, hence the batteries.

do check the 'inner-rollers' as others do suggest here above (or below, depending where this comment will stick up to).

also, do check the mouse 'properties', exp. if it's a Logitech and you're running Mouseware -- sometimes the settings go belly-up for whatever reason (as far as my experience goes).

also #2, you had spyware in your system, right? I'm not a techie and I don't think this is the case, but it might have messed with the mouse drivers. maybe try to uninstall and reinstall those? if all else fails, that is.

in hopes that a good dose of Pretty might help with the Migraine, did you know that costumersguide.com has on-set photos for Stardust (http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i31/costumersguide/Stardust/) as well as The Fountain (http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i31/costumersguide/The%20Fountain/)?

I had a horrid migraine yesterday, and a friend suggested something that helped a bit. Put a few drops of lavender oil in boiling water, then sit over it and breathe in the steam.

Hope you feel better.

Poor thing. I recommend Excedrin Migraine. My mother swears by it.

And my condolences of the death of comp. mouse. Email with only a tab key? *shudders* I would've said screw it due to the migraine. :-P

I hope today gets better for you.

*sympathizes with both*

I would second the Excedrin migraine, but my neurologist has banned me from ever using it or Tyelenol again. Apparently if you use it too often, your neurons get addicted to the tyelenol that's in there (however, if your migraines aren't that frequent — go for it, it really does work wonders).

Okay, I am officially a dork.

I have a pet mouse, so when I read this at first I thought, "Awww, her mousie died!"

Then I was like, "Wait, why does she have to use 'tab'?"

Then, and only then, did I smack myself in the head.

I just wanted to let you know that I went through a similar thought process...

and that your V icon reminded me of the immense fun that everyone shall have on Aug 1 when once again we can remember remember the ridiculous movie that is V for Vendetta. (and you thought I was going to say 5th of November...)

but you have to admit that it was a bit ridiculous at moments-- a movie doesn't have to be bad to be ridiculous

Awww, mousie! It occurred to me that people would be confused, so I specifically said the thing about the tab so they'd go, "Oh, THAT mouse."

Somehow, if it had been a pet rodent gone to the Giant Rollerball in the Sky, I'd've been relishing the event, since there have been various traumatic mouse-y experiences with Roommate and Crazy Girl Down the Hall's pet Rescuers which lead me to view the animals themselves with distaste.

But computer mice? I love. Thus: woe and pity. And Advil.

*hugs and hopes all is resolved soon*

OMG my keyboard is broken! And I'm on someone else's computer! Let's be friends!

On top of that, my internet doesn't work half the time. It is so frustrating trying to fix the internet when the key board keeps crapping out, or trying to update your keyboard drivers but the driver updates ARE ONLINE and you can't even fucking ENTER YOUR PASSWORD because the keyboard will only work for about a tenth of a second after you plug it back in! ARG. At least all my passwords are short.

Have you tried using the virtual keyboard under accessibility? You operate it with the mouse.

I have to say that there really isn't much more of an aggravating situation with computers (I mean, short of the apocalyptic crashes to which they're prone) than a broken mouse. Grr.

Excedrin Migraine is a gift from God. I usually fall asleep after I take one, and by the time I wake up my migraine is gone.

Maybe you could stab your mouse instead of your head, to feel better?

I DO! My cat broke my mouse last semester when he decided to knock it off my desk (wireless mouse) and so I had to do that for two days, it almost drove me insane. I did the same thing, except I just used the computers on campus. I can't believe how dependent we are on the mouse now, I remember when we ran the computer with MS-DOS! lol

Hope you get a new one soon!

Is there a migraine epidemic?
I had one all day Sunday.
One of my co-workers was afflicted Sunday/Monday.
Two of my students called off today because of EHD (Exploding Head Syndrome).
I swear... it must be going around.

1. As per the above comment's question on headaches: Meep, yeah. My whole family and I had heat-head aches today. The epidemic spreads as the heat does, I think.

2. >_< How about a... Purchase Cleo a New Mouse Fund?

... No scandal there. Very straight forward. ^_^

Ah well. Glad to know that your friends are alive and well. :)
