I am really, really tired, for some reason. It's that weird half-and-half energy I get sometimes--plenty of things I want to do, but no will to do them; I'm all motivation and no energy. I am writing still, though, and spent about twenty minutes in the pool this morning. Turns out that "walking" back and forth across the shallow end (you know, still about shoulder high) is a great place to run through scenes and dialogue. And there was some bulldozer or garbage compactor or some ungodly thing running on the street behind us, so it's not like anyone could hear me. I just wish I had a waterproof notebook so I could write a few things down every time I got back to the edge of the pool, you know?

I really want a grilled cheese sandwich, but... that would involve getting out a pan. Seriously, the fact that I dragged myself to the shower and washed my tangly pool hair was a major accomplishment for the day.

Are there such things as waterproof notebooks?

Hee, they even have waterproof pens for them.

I've heard about waterproof pens, but never waterproof notebooks before. This is really, really nifty. :)

Use a regular notebook, just keep a towel with it so you can dry your hands a bit before touching it. Seriously, I have seen people that live in my building standing at the side of the pool, reading the newspaper (which they have all laid out on the concrete next to the pool).

You can always hit up your local dive shop/sporting goods store (maaaybe), and pick up a grease pencil and writing tablet. They should be pretty cheap, plus you can carry it around with you in the pool and even write underwater.

I bet if she had that much energy, she'd have thought of a title. ;-)

Feel better, love.

Toasted cheese sammich has a similar taste but without the pan. Toast the bread, add cheese slices; maybe butter.

I make that instead sometimes, but today I was really craving that slightly charred taste, you know?

I do love my carbon. Tis not the same, and never a completely satisfying substitute to the more task-involved grilled cheese.
Wow, aren't I wordy tonight? I hope I get gold stars.

You could always make a grilled cheese samich using your toaster and microwave, that's what I always do. :3

Three cheers for the energy you spent walking around in the pool! You're doing better than me, feel great about yourself. ; )

I actually tend to pace back and forth as a means of generating ideas. Apparenly years later I found out my compulsive need to do so is called self-timulation, or "stimming", which tends to block out my enviroment, which can assault my senses. Theoretically, it could be a great way for anyone to concentrate.

I actually find water specifically to help me think--I do a lot of mental "writing" when I'm in the bath. You'd think I would have caught on to the bath/pool connection sooner.

It might have something to do with why sensory deprivation tanks are filled with water. Maybe that you're placing yourself in a liquid puts less pressure on your body, or sends your brain the message you're truly "isolated".

I do that too, actually. I tend to walk faster if I'm excited about the ideas. I've noticed over the years that sometimes the pacing turns into procrastination, though.

When it's as hot as it's been in the northern hemisphere recently, that is a major accomplishment. :/ If we had a pool I'd still be in it, seriously.

I'm not sure if anyone has plugged this to you yet, or not, but since you have that handy-dandy breast cancer awareness icon, I thought you might be interested in Save The Ta-Tas (http://www.savethetatas.com/).

Only thing I ever do to drag myself out of my cave to do something is just simply not thinking about it. Like the grilled cheese bit, I would just think I want one, and I'd get right up to do it because I know my minds going to start with the "blegh, but that means I have to make it first". I guess it's not really useful to you, but it is much worse when you let yourself think about how you don't want to do it.

I know what you mean--like, don't stop to think of reasons you don't want to, just do it.

You can also deliberately think about something else, like fandom theories, or reciting the lyrics to a song, or anything really that'll take up enough of your thoughts so as to not dwell on what you're doing long enough to make you not want to do it (I know I should be phrasing that some other way, but hell, it's hot). Usually when you do that the task passes faster than you realize.

Dude, I hear you on the lazy. And when you have hair as long as ours, washing it is a major undertaking. Now all I have to do is comb it. I'm debating just braiding it and losing any tangles in the waves.

It wouldn't even be that bad if my hair weren't curly/wavy, because it's only just past my shoulders, but it's at that length now where it tangles up given the least provocation.

Levenger's used to have waterproof stuff. A search on the website didn't turn up much, though.

Have you tried taking iron supplements? My mom had been after me for DECADES to take iron whenever I felt "lazy but not tired". I just shook her off because when I was a teenage, many moons ago, she use to insist that the dr test me for anemia when I would get to feeling that way and my iron levels always came back fine.

Anyway, to not digress, I finally tried it this year and it has made a noticable difference to me. I don't get that feeling as often and when I do, its always seems to be when I've stopped taking my iron.

I bet you'd love...I think it's called deep-water swimming? My cousin does it. The equipment apparently keeps your head above water in the deep end and then you do laps back and forth. It's supposed to be awesome exercise with no impact (which is good for the knees!)

All you'd need then is a writing board and a grease pencil on the side of the pool!

Hee. I actually had a pretty good time out there today.

I don't doubt it. I love pools. I can't wait for the bar to be over so I can realize it's actually summer and go swimming.

And seriously - my boyfriend got me a "diver's board" (after I told him I get my best ideas in the shower and then forget them) that you can write on underwater so I am sure you could find something to use! :)
