A few things you may (or may not) have noticed, including the after-credit scenes. Trailer caps are from [livejournal.com profile] cap_it; larger pictures are mostly from OutNow:

>> Two screencaps from the scene after the credits in the first movie, if you didn't see that. It will explain some logistics in the second. Note: the caps are in reverse order on this entry--effect and cause, not cause and effect.

>> Lo-res video of the scene after the credits in the second movie.

>> Check out the chicken foot hanging from Tia Dalma's neck. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she does the voodoo.

>> Is this Barbossa's hat? Although, I think the very top of his was sliced off near the end of the first movie (shut up, I was watching commentaries last week!). But Jack spends a good amount of time examining it (I have three frames from the trailer alone).

>> The puzzle of Jack's stolen future plot point ring: people noticed that Jack steals a ring at some point in the Tia Dalma scene. (I missed this; I thought he stole the heart necklace.) Therefore, he is not wearing it before that scene, and he must be wearing it after that scene. But which ring is it?

Okay, you tell me: which ring did he take from Tia Dalma?

ETA: We seem to have a consensus: it's the plain gold ring with the dark stone in the middle. The stone itself seems to be a vivid purple (see the Las Cruces pictures). That said, I seriously want the big green twisty ring on his thumb.

I'm almost sure it's the middle one, the dark stone in gold, from the tortuga pic. I have a vague visual memory of him stealing that one but I could be wrong.

I have to say, I don't see that one in any of the pre-Dalma pictures, so you may be right. And of course, I now "remember" seeing him take that one (ah, the power of suggestion).

I seriously love the big green twisty one on his thumb, though.

The gold one I believe

From: [identity profile] aelfsciene.livejournal.com
It's the enormous gold ring with the huge stone on his index finger in this picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/cleoicons/pirates/tortugarings2.jpg) and this picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/cleoicons/pirates/kissrings.jpg). I'm totally expecting the ring to be huge (though I don't remember him taking the necklace, which I think she'd have noticed) in the next ring. Also, Chinese pirates, or so I hope!

I'm fairly certain it's the big plain black one here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v118/cleoicons/pirates/tortugarings2.jpg

It stuck out in my mind, and I definitely remember seeing it throughout the movie. I also remember wondering why he didn't take his rings off while trying to escape the shackle, because in my dealings with wearing bracelets that are too small I've found that removing your rings always helps it slide off better.

As his escape attempt progresses, in the closeups of his hand you can see the rings partially removed, near the ends of his fingers.

I thought it was the big dark stone. That it's deep purple is interesting; I kept thinking of it as being, well, a black pearl. (Yes, I know it's not very pearly; I was being figurative.) But that was kind of in my subconscious, and I only realized that's how I was thinking of it after I saw it was purple in some pictures.

You know, I never could quite figure that out. People kept saying "It's because you don't know what you want," leading to him chanting, "I know what I want, I know what I want," but... I don't really see how "I don't want the kraken to eat me" is a less decisive want than "I want to get married." Unless someone can figure out an actual reason, I'm going to have to chalk it up to "Because the plot needed it to not work."

Okay so wait, I'm not all too clear here, and this is probably not important at all but why was Elizabeth out in the rain on her wedding day? If she was waiting for the groom... why was she outside alone? In the rain? In her dress? ....Hubba Whibba?

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
That was kind of... awkwardly handled. The best I could figure out was that she was at the altar, so to speak, waiting for Will, and he never came. It started to rain. Everyone else got out of the rain. She knelt down and sat there and got wet, because she went all emo, woe. Then she heard the sound of troops approaching, looked up, and realized that he hadn't come because he'd been arrested.

Hi. I read you all the time (finally got ahold of the m15m book! Great job =)) but am just getting around to getting past my intimidation and saying something. ^.^

I believe it's the green stoned ring on his right index finger. I am influenced by the existence of this product...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FSEESG/qid=1152506346/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-5276996-8229567?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance

But I'm not sure. I haven't seen enough before and after Tia's pictures to be positive.
Also, I am certain he doesn not take the pendant. He takes something else before he takes the ring, but he takes the ring from near where the pendant is (perhaps to show us that her pendant matches Davy's music box??)

A friend of mine just pointed this out to me.

Davy Jones, throwing off crazy Phantom vibes with his lost love and ginormous organ, essentially plays with his face.

My mind immediately jumps to- what else?- our own beloved Gerard Butler mashing his face against the organ keys.

Not quite the same effect, is it? I thought you might appreciate it XD

Re: Barbossa's hat. I noticed that when I went to see the film a second time. I don't think it's the same hat from the first film-- that one's bigger and more battered. However, I do believe it's the one he's wearing when he appears at the end. I'd offer visual evidence, but the only caps available right now are rather low quality and dark, so you really can't make out any details.

I loved those little bits of foreshadowing in the first Tia Dalma scene. There was much gasping and squee when I caught them the second time around.
