My grandmother loved Narnia. I can't believe I cried through it again.

I cried through it last night myself, and loved it especially more since it wasn't the hellish theatre experience my mum and I had when we first saw it. Something about it just...conjures tears. <333 :)

It makes me cry at parts that aren't even sad!

Awww. I had pretty much given up on watching movies with my mom (bad experiences of a family viewing of Fellowship of the Ring), but I took her to see Narnia in the theater on opening day, and she adored it. Probably more than I did, even. I consider this a huge accomplishment.

That movie totally gets me. Chills run up my spine all. the. time.

Oy.

I still haven't seen it, but I hope to soon.

I re-read the complete Narnia chronicles back when the movie was in theaters.

I will say, watching this one get made helped me understand why LOTR fans were so psychotic while they were making Fellowship of the Ring. I didn't really understand what a profound emotional attachment I had to the Narnia books until I started seeing stills from the movie--and until I burst into tears when I saw the trailer in the theater. I grew up on The Hobbit but stopped there--couldn't get into the main LOTR books at 12/13 because I was too young, I think. But if I had grown up living in those books the way I had Narnia, I have a feeling that simple little things, like the first shot of Rivendell or whatever, would have done me in. I think they're comparable achievements, as adaptations go, even if the stories are different levels of epic.

I cried almost all the way through that movie. There are just so many things I connect to it that make me nostalgic/sad/so happy I could cry. It is an emotional story

Well, again, I think it's an emotional reaction to how wrapped up in these books I was as a child. If you only have a casual relationship with them (or none at all), you're probably going to watch it and think that I'm on crack.

My mother bought me the books when I was a little kiddo...

I remember seeing the trailer for Narnia during Star Wars ep 3 and JUST LOST IT! I was more excited about seeing Narnia than HP or SW. Yeah, I'm a dork, but I care not.

I really want to buy it on DVD and watch and rewatch it. It was lovely.

Allright, I totally need to buy this movie and watch it again.

(Preferably not with my dad sitting there saying, just as I was thinking that Peter was cute, "Peter looks kind of like your cousin Jimmy")

HA! I'm sorry to laugh at your misfourtune here, but... cousin Jimmy...

The same thing happened with me, while watching Star Wars 3 with my sister. Just as I was drooling over Anakin: "Hey, don't you think he looks kind of like [brother]?" AND HE KIND OF DOES. In a small, small, way. I guess. Maybe.

I've cried through that movie at least four times, and not even at the sad parts. I've stopped watching it with friends though, because... well, people tend to think you're crazy when you cry during the first 10 minutes of a children's movie.

I mean, not that I did or anything. *shifty eyes*....

Hey, Cleo :)

I don't know if you've seen this yet, it's from J.K Rowling's official site:

J.K. Rowling's rant on "stupid girls" (http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/en/extrastuff_view.cfm?id=22)

It's really awesome, and well-appreciated by those of us who are tired of the blonde stick image.

Maybe Hermione will be a role model for all the girls who are afraid that boys won't like them if they're smart.

I saw it twice in the theater and cried when they were sacrificing Aslan. And when he's dead and Lucy just buries her face in his mane, that does me in every time. Oh, and not necessarily a crying moment, but at the beginning when Lucy is with Tumnus and says "I thought you were my friend" and Tumnus jerks his head up to look at her in this uber intense way, that just made me think "holy cow that's amazing", you know, since that one second glance says so much about his emotions.

I saw something about holding LotR near and dear like that on one of the comments, and I agree totally. I feel like such a nerd for tearing up in FotR when the Fellowship leaves Rivendell and it pans out to this beautiful shot of the New Zealand mountains...that and the beacon lighting scene in RotK, gosh.

I, on the other hand, spent the entire movie, pretty much, grinning like a fool because the whole thing was so right.

And trying to ignore the guy next to me who kept rearranging his genitalia for worryingly protracted periods.
