Stupid storms. Bad day all around, really, in terms of future prospects--can't really talk about it until it's settled, but they're not my prospects, I'll put it that way. Just prospects that affect me. Oh, and the shower doors are kind of half-fixed (expensively, at that) and half-permanently fucked (sarcastic yay).

It's the kind of day where I'm actually kind of hoping that the power goes out for an hour or so, because that means the brand-new carton of chocolate/almond/marshmallow ice cream will melt and be up for grabs. I mean, it'd be a shame if we wasted all of it, right...?

Oh, and I don't really have time to talk about it (more lightning; one outage already), but we're all livid over the church fires thing. OUT OF MY ALMA MATER(S)!

I think you should commandeer the ice cream to help counter the rotten day. Everyone will understand.

Best of luck with the ice cream. Chocolate/almond/marshmallow sounds wonderful.

I saw that news item, and was wondering your thoughts on it were. (Well I mean besides the standard "Douches") Weren't some of you friends in the theater department, as well? I'm still not sure how burning down a church a is a very effective joke. (Or how continuing the arson would be an effective way to not get caught.)

Turns out I have friends who know them, or have met them. We're still trying to figure out how deer hunting + theater majors + "jokes" = rural church arson. Seriously, it makes zero sense.

Political asshattery (http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/bill_napoli_is_spelled_a_s_s_h_a_t/)

I know you like to use your internet influence to push a liberal, pro-woman agenda, and I just thought you'd like to see this woman's campaign. I already lit my little fuse on the google bomb :)

Would you mind linking to this? http://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/media/pressreleases/pr-060308-health.xml

I am very glad right now that I moved to Canada.

But if you do, include the link to the bill text: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s109-1955

Because it's apparently possible that PP is kind of overstating the possibilities with regard to interpretation.

I definitely think that the ice cream must be sacrificed in order to assuage the anxiety of the day.

Nothing like ice-cream to cure the ills caused by a bad day.
Unless you're lactose intolerant. Then, you're screwed.

In re: church fires - fuckers! Where is the lightning bolt of God that Pat Robertson is so fond of invoking? His aims seems a bit off these days. Bah.

"I would just like to know what they were thinking." Yes, that seems to be about right.

You could always eat the ice cream and claim it was a practical joke. Or that it was a sacrifice to the goddess, or for St. Candidus's Day or Springtide or whatever. Obscure religious festivals are good for ice cream sacrifices.

Yarha, Ice Cremated

PS: Yes, today is St. Candidus's day (among others) according to here (http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/day0309.htm). God knows why. Literally.

You know if those kids weren't from 'nice families' and in college, they'd be slammed straight into jail with no puzzled solicitousness from anyone. GAH. Little shits.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2006-03-10 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they may get slammed as it is--there was a reference to confessions that were "extracted" from them, which gave me delightful visions of pliers. They're facing 50-year sentences--5 years for each church.

"A joke"? What was the punchline...poisoning all of the wildlife? Punk bitches.

In reading the profiles of the three arsonists in the News yesterday, I noted that one of them had gone from having "soccer" listed as things he did for fun on his webpage to adding "killing innocent animals" and "running over squirrels in my 4Runner," as well as getting drunk as a side note.

And I keep asking myself...didn't the sudden addition of abusing animals to the category of "things I do for fun" send up a red flag to anyone that maybe SOMETHING was amiss with this kid before all this stuff had started? Huh.

If the were trying, indriectly, to make some sort of statement, the statement they wound up making was that all three sets of mothers and fathers apparently raised idiots.
