Okay, so all of the imps are sold and I won't bounce any automated monthly payments for a while, which is nice. In BPAL culture, it's important that the seller not price-gouge and make a ridiculous profit off Beth's oils, which leads to people often saying, "Don't worry, the money's going back to the lab." In addition to charging reasonable prices, I mean. You can argue that ridiculous profit is just in the spirit of capitalism; I'm just telling you what the values of the user culture are. Sadly, with me? "It's all going to back to the lab" is probably true as well. Just... not this red hot moment.

(But even so, I already had Budding Moon and Haunted Palace on the way. Have you noticed that the BPAL wait time has gone down like whoa? I've heard about people getting shipping notices already for 1/13 orders. Dude! Also, the Valentine/Lupercalia LEs are still available for two more days [Perfumed Garden! Red Lantern! Smut!].)

Meanwhile, I think the SAG awards are on tonight--I love those, because 1) they're short and 2) TNT always runs them twice in a row, which makes blogging a hell of a lot easier on me. Can't remember if they're drinky or not, though.

Steeler, PA! I love it! They did it for a good reason...I mean, we're playing Seattle. If we were playing anyone else, they probably wouldn't have changed the name. Except if we were playing, say, the Redskins.

I'm chuffed about the BPAL wait time because I'm planning on an order soon - just waiting on some imps I ordered from various people on [livejournal.com profile] alchemylab to come in so I can test the stupid things. *drums fingers impatiently*

Date: 2006-01-29 09:22 pm (UTC)

I can testify to BPAL's shorter waiting time -- I got my bottle of 13 (ordered 1/13) yesterday. Now with all the Lupercalia orders shipping, I'm terrified to look at the reviews for fear that I'll suddenly desperately need Smut. (After all, who doesn't need some Smut in his or her life? I know I do.)

I don't find the PETA campaign bizarre. I find it bizarrely funny. Yep, vegans and animal rights people can and do have a sense of humor. The fact that I'm one of them in no way biases my opinion. *eyedart*

But what I am sick of is the propensity to label any PETA campaign "bizarre" or "extreme." It's as bad as Ann Coulter automatically castigating liberals with her onslaught of derogatory terms any time someone dialogs with her and shows themselves to have liberal or progressive views.

Call me crazy, but I think it takes a certain amount of bravery to slather yourself in fake blood and stand outside the fur department of a department store with pictures of minks being anally electrocuted. And I personally laud the people who have the guts to do it and take a public stand for what they believe in -- "yep, this is cruel" -- while a huge chunk of the population shuffles through life as armchair activists.

That being said, that websight is hilarious.

I'm a little shy about seeding things right now--afraid I'm not putting the right kind of tags on there (not enough? too many? too specific? too vague?), duplicating a story, or just generally doing something wrong--and I can't think of anything to write a column about at the moment. I agree with whoever said, during a metadiscussion, that it shouldn't just become del.icio.us 2--that's a great repository for any and all links, whereas you'd hope something like Newsvine would involve more selection and commentary.

haven't read the comments, so I don't know if someone else has pointed this out, but if that tree is, indeed, the real deal, that means Harry's related to Barty Crouch, Neville Longbottom, and Sirius. Wonder if that will play into book 7...

Yeah, but isn't the wizarding world so incestuous that like half the wizards are related to each other? I mean, it's still super cool, especially Harry being related both to Sirius and to Neville, but Sirius says something about how all the purebloods are related, because otherwise they'd have to marry muggles (or mudbloods).
