I know the entries have been linkspam-centric the last few days, and that I get a lot of complaints when I don't post any "original content" (i.e., some humorous blathering about everyday life), but... honestly, there's nothing to blather about at the moment. I'm lying bolt awake all night unable to sleep and then muddling through the day. Nothing terribly interesting at the moment.

Censored Tyra Mails from America's Next Top Model. (Please note that McSweeney's is a parody site.)

Making Light: Centralizing the Cylert campaign.

Apple Computer Alters iTunes Software to Be Less Evil.

Snake befriends snack: "The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe." With frickin' adorable picture.

Whale spotted in Central London: "But at 0830 GMT on Friday, a man on a train called in to say he might have been hallucinating, but he had just seen a whale in the Thames."

Zomg an Edith Wharton doll!

[livejournal.com profile] la_sonnambula: "And in a case of life sort of imitating The Onion, Mel Gibson is threatening to sue the owner of melgibsonsblog.blogspot.com."

Study: Most College Students Lack Skills. And now you know why I have a cardboard sign in my closet that reads "Will think for food."

[livejournal.com profile] riverchild: "Some poking around on the imdb boards yielded this: Last Conservative. There's an ad for the [Imagine Me and You] trailer on their MySpace." Okay. I've emailed, or messaged, or whatevered, the band and asked if they could make an mp3 available somehow. I was also not above mentioning our obsession with "Cells" last year, so... maybe we'll hear back from them. ETA: They did! They're going to put up an mp3 next week, so stay tuned for that.

[livejournal.com profile] dailydigestnews: Just a little bit for the last entry there--crossposted the trailer song bit, some news about Adrien Brody wanting to play the Joker, a Lena Headey interview, an embarrassing typo therein, some stuff about Sundance. You know, the standard. ; )

Also (unless you've mentioned this in a previous post), Tom Cruise stops the South Park Scientology episode from airing in the UK (http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2006-01-20/#2).

Zomg an Edith Wharton doll!

The dress! The hat! The waist cincher!

Much, much luff I have for this despite the fact that this sort of doll usually scares me. It's the eyes. Nothing that dresses that much better than me should have eyes like that.

Apparently that whole snake-befriending-prey phenomenon is not that uncommon. My mom had a pet garter snake when she was a kid, and that would happen fairly often. If he didn't eat a proferred mouse within a certain time period, that mouse simply would not get eaten. It could run around on top of the snake without any fear. The wierdest thing was that she could take the mouse out of the cage for awhile and then put it back later, and the snake still wouldn't touch it. She said other snake owner's she's talked to have had the same experience.

Weeeird. I wonder how that happens. Like, why that mouse but not this one over here.

I once lived in a menagerie household where one of the snakes went into semi-hibernation before eating the mice provided for it. They lived and bred in the coils until the owner took pity on them and gave them their own cage. I am not an expert, but I think snakes may just go into periods when they are not hungry - or want something better to eat [like chocolate?].

Hopefully, Marlin has improved on his whale language.

Also, I like it that you linkspam. My life is pretty boring so I know I can check your journal for some interesting stuff I wouldn't of otherwise seen.

You need to have a "Retarded Reader Mail Day" and post all of the complaints you get from people who feel as though it's your duty to entertain them and get all ZOMGPISSEDOFF! when you don't. It would like, make my whole month.

I'm salivating at the though. People need to stop thinking that the internet is SERIOUS BUSINESS YO and chill the hell out. Maybe someone would realize they were being an e-dick.

I'll totally PayPal you $0.26 to do it.

I agree completely. The idea that people are upset with [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda for what she does or doesn't post in her own livejournal is just moronic.

Like, you know, along the lines of "nudge". Hey, Cleo! Be a friend and post!

Or, you know - do whatever you want in your journal.

There was a humpback whale in the San Francisco Bay in 1985. Humpback's are about 35-40 tons, around 50 feet long and he swam up the Carquinez straits (aka San Joaquin River, a tributary of the Sacramento River) and pretty much got himself stuck under a bridge as the water level dropped, but they managed to get him out to open sea again after about 3 weeks in the bay by playing whale recordings.

Go Fug Yourself has outdone itself with this entry:

Prithee, Mistress Lohan, whither art thou tights? (http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_fug_yourself/2006/01/the_prairie_hom.html)
Dost thou not agree that when a maiden taketh on doublet -- howsoever bare -- and breeches and disguiseth herself as a lad, in the manner of such good works by Sir William Shakespeare as As You Like It or Twelfth Night, the maiden needth likewise spare a thought to the hairlessness of her legs which will surely give away her disguise, revealing her to be a lady fair and not a brutish hairy man, and puteth on some hose?

*snort*

Thanks for making me linkspam! :-) I must admit, Adrien's got the nose to be the Joker. (but he still manages to be gorgeous and you forget about the nose, esp. in King Kong)

I saw that story about the hamster and the snake living together! Did you see the adorable pictures of the orphan squirrel monkey and its duck stuffed animal with the zoo pictures?

Oh, boy, that snake/hamster story is priceless. My friend linked to it the other day and I'm still in shock. It's like some sort of Romeo and Juliet for the animal kingdom...except Juliet wasn't a tiny, fluffy hamster.

Score! I must admit, I am very excited for that, and a possible second book!

And, after FINALLY seeing Narnia, I think, though it was a very well done film, it could be easily parodied (if thats a word).

Thanks for the clarification

I'm curious. Do people, once they become famous, all develop the misapprehension that they are the only people in the world who have their (fairly common) names? I mean, seriously, if they're going to sue every time they see their names used by someone else, please someone make sure they can't access phonebook.com

Okay, first? Either the biggest fucking hamster in the world, or that's really a worm.
Second, wonder what the world leaders could learn from the hamster/snake pairing. Or the Koko/kitten, or the tortoise and the hippo in Indonesia last year.

When I was in Paris we walked by where Edith Wharton used to live and were all excited about it even though it was just a normal little street. :)

Did you see the other links in that snake/hamster page? The lioness/oryx story is cool too.
