Quick entry just to say that it's storming over here, or about to, and of course my modem has decided to start flickering again. I'm not putting up last week's Empire recap up tonight--the proofs for the book have come in, and I have to do that first. But last week's and this week's will go up in a few days, and that'll be the end of our mini-series.

I love storms. <3

Wow, so after that the book will be ready, right? And get published in October.

That is so cool!

I can't wait.

Get someone else to read them as well maybe? In case you miss anything. Dad used to make me and my mum proof read all of his books cause he would miss things cause he knew the book too well :p

Ooo, proofs. Makes it just that much more real that I know an author. Kinda.

I was going to congratuate you on having a listing on Amazon on your last post, but I figured your eyes were crossing after 150 posts, so Congrats!

Good luck with the proofs! What kind of work does that mean for you?

Proofreading--literally, the reading of proofs. It's not a lot of work, but it's kind of my one shot to catch or change anything, so it's kind of important.

And here I was thinking you could just recline on the porch with a cocktail at hand and go through the galley proofs with the sovereign authority of a celeb writer... Which doesn't mean you can't do it even now, during a severe weather alert! Rainy summer has finally stopped here in Croatia, and it's doing wonders for my productivity. Hopefully you'll fare the same!

Weirdly, I was also picturing Our Lady of Funny on a porch, mint julep in hand, flipping through proofs and making sage remarks about the publishing business.

Maybe it'll cool y'all off. Lucky you. It's humid as a frickin' swamp over here in Georgia. :p

Yarha, Noting that the Plural of "Y'all" is "All Y'all"

Same here. I have to take the dogs out 4-5 times a day (poms, man) and it's hellish just opening the door.

So...in other words, you'll be proofing while surrounded by the smell of wet dog hair? Sounds horribly distracting. Heavy drinking should help, though.

Yeah, and that 1/3 bottle of vodka I found under my bed a few weeks ago should definitely help.

I'd pay good money to see a manuscript you proofed while half-lit. :o)

Drinking and proofreading don't mix, kids. I speak from experience.

Also...are you feeling better, Cleo? Is your throat still bothering you?

Yes, but drunken dogs don't smell any better than sober ones.

Yarha, Doh!

It stormed here last night--the first decent, widespread rain we'd gotten in ages. I left work, got soaked and didn't care one bit.

Congrats on the proofs! You still have work to do, I know, but the dream becomes more and more real. And I couldn't be happier for you.
