Well, shit. I think I've been bitten by a spider (a very small one--I saw a few when I was cleaning, barely worth calling a spider, but there's a pink blotch with a reddish center on my leg that won't go away and I can't think what else it is), and on top of that, now I've lost my voice. My throat's been hurting for a couple of days now, but since my sinuses are completely clear, I thought I'd hurt my throat coughing up dustbunnies or something. I wouldn't be surprised if I'd caught something from the crowd at the Potter release, and it would kind of explain why I've felt so tired the last couple of days. But since my sinuses seem fine, I don't really know what to take for it.

P.S.: Liam Neeson to voice Aslan. Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this.

Liam Neeson has a marvelous voice for Aslan, I'm sure it will be just fine.

I think Liam will do a good job. He has a nice, regal voice. Sort of a purring quality to it.

We had ants crawling everywhere around here a couple of weeks ago and I think they were biting me a lot. Last night one completed suicide in my bathtub. Just hopped right in with me and then was like 'oh, shit!'. Silly insects.

"Purring quality"--I was trying to decide why, exactly, I wasn't worried about Neeson being cast, and your description nails it exactly.

Eee spiders. I don't think we have the type that bite here, but I can't stand the massive ones that find their way into the house every now and then.
Neither can my dad, so whenever they come in Mum has to get rid of them (which is funny considering she's 5'2 and he's 6'5.)

Hope you get your voice back soon :/

Sorry about the bug bite!

I think Neeson is a good choice! He has a purr-y sort of voice. I wonder if they'll let him do it with an Irish lilt.

Very small spiders

... at the least, it isn't a brown recluse or black widow, then.
How long ago was the bite? I have heard and seen on television that preliminary signs of Lyme disease are described as ping blotches with reddish centers, but those take a while to show up. Similarly flu-like symptoms. In any case, please do talk to a doc just in case, especially if symptoms persist.

P.S. : And now I keep hearing Aslan yelling "Anakin!" :-P

Oh dear. Well, I'll go look up Lyme disease and compare the blotches if I can. Really, I saw the spider sometime last week, and the blotch has been around for several days. And the spider was near my bed. And I've found spiders in my bed before. Easily could have bitten me while I was sleeping.

He was Scottish in Rob Roy, Irish by birth, German as Oscar Schindler, Russian in K-19: The Widowmaker, and French in Les Miz. So that makes him an Irish/Scottish/Russian/German/French/Jedi/Ninja lion.

I don't know how I feel about Liam either, frankly. Maybe I've just seen Batman Begins too many times (and it doesn't help that I want to rent Kinsey ASAP), but he seems like a...morally ambiguous?...choice for this particular project, if that makes any sense.

Feel better soon. Plus if you started shooting webs? That would be AWESOME.

Definitely not my mental picture, so to speak, of the voice of Aslan, but Liam does have a gorgeous voice, so maybe he will be able to pull it off.

Wow, today is just not your day, is it? :( I'm betting it was the Potter crowd responsible for your throat, that many people in one spot are bound to pass something around to a few people.

Ewww...careful about the bite thing. If it is a spidery-type, then you may just be havin' an allergic reaction and will recover. If the redness spreads, by all means call the doc.

Sorry to hear about the throat...I'm betting on the Potter party being the cause, too. I hit the one at Patton Creek (but picked up at book at Sam's Club on Sunday for half the cover price)...and am currently halfway through the book. I could probably have finished it on Sunday, but I wanted to watch Mythbusters mess with jaws shark myths and figured Harry would be waiting when the program was over.

Liam Neeson as Aslan? Interesting choice, that. I think he'll play best during the scene where Susan and Lucy are accompanying him to the Stone Table, though..."Children, children, why are you following me?" I can almost hear that one in my head. I hope it goes well...but then, I'm a Neeson junkie, and this gives me one more reason to try and hit the Narnia midnight showing as an early birthday prezzie to myself.

I forget that other places have spiders that BITE. Ick. Feel better soon.

Liam Neeson's a pretty good choice, I'd say. He's got a strong voice, lots of character, and he can do Received Pronunciation with that tricky "Yeah, I'm posh, don't start with me, fuckers!" overtone to it.

I wonder how they're going to do that (Liam voicing Aslan--not spiders biting people. Although I also know nothing about spider-biting-mechanisms, in case you were wondering. Which you probably weren't. Yeah. Well. Anyway--). Are they just going to have some big, lumping lion in the middle of the scene, moving its mouth while Liam Neeson shouts from his comfortable seat on a couch offstage, "Hello, children! I am that lion you see! No, don't turn around! Don't crane your necks to look behind you! I'm right there! Yep, there! See me? Ha ha! That's ME!"

I want to see this movie.

I don't know how I feel about Liam Neeson being Aslan either. He does have a nice burr to his voice which could be lion-esque.

It's too bad they can't have someone like James Earl Jones do it. He would be tremendous, although I would be afraid that it might end up like this: "Children, Children, this is CNN. I am your father."

Bugs are boooo. I've found a couple of large, scary spiders here (one in my bath poof sponge deal OMGSCARY). I'm currently covered in bites, but most likely mosquito bites. My legs look polkadotted. I bet there are a couple of spider bites on there somewhere.

Thankfully, though, I've yet to see any Florida bugs anywhere but by the river.

I second (third fourth and nine billionth) all the folks that have said to get that bite looked at. Some of them start of small and harmless looking and the next thing you know you look like that guy in the email forward that I get three times every summer during spider season and it is not pretty in that I'm pretty sure they are going to have to remove part of him. And it's not even a hoax, which is totally the worst part.

I would listen to Liam Neeson read the phone book. It's not that bad.
