All right. Should you be at the Summit Harry Potter release party tonight, I'll be there with Hermione hair (unfortunately, this is naturally occurring), glasses, a dark pink/raspberry-colored shirt, jeans, and a little gold watch necklace (my own Time Turner omg!). Having bothered to tell you this, I will not think it's weird if you actually do come up and say, "Are you...?" You know, just to meet some some LJers in town; that seems like that would be fun.

So: off to the movie I go, with my movietickets.com-approved credit card, my checkbook for buying books, my cash for getting ripped off at the concession stand, and my phone for meeting up with The Lovely Emily (and possibly The Amazing McRachel) later.

Phone post from the line! I know I am. XD

I actually was planning to buy a replica time turner from the Noble Collection for the book release, but I had to buy a video game instead. Still though, yay for our collective dorkiness!

And conversely, if anyone should be at the Walmart in San Dimas at midnight tonight, I'll be the one with checked shoes and skull bag buying the Harry Potter book ;) [But seriously. I will be.]

I have tickets to the 9:40 show. It gets out around 11:30, and then it's time to start walking toward the bookstore.

So excited.

I'm trying to decide whether The Lovely Emily or The Amazing McRachel is a cooler nickname. See, I like the name Emily and the word lovely, but the Mc prefix trumps almost everything. It's a tough decision.

Oh man, I so wish I could be there. That sounds like fun.

(and I hear you on the naturally-occuring Hermione hair. I actually grinned when I saw the description of her in the first book... "Yay! A fellow frizzy-haired brunette!") ;-)

Have a great time!

Oh, trust me, I've got the Hermione-hair, too. An obnoxiously precocious, frizzy-haired brunette? No wonder I like her :)

If only we could all achieve that delightfully frizzless, uniformly wavy look Hermione has in the PoA movie. Sigh.

I wonder how many bottles of conditioner it would take me to get that look.

Where does one get a time turner? And I also have Hermione hair.

Actually, you can buy an official HP time turner at www.noblecollection.com. Mine's just a little watch on a gold chain with some tiny pearls and a few gold charms that I've had for about ten years now, and I suddenly saw it tonight on the rack and went, "Dude!"

d00d! I was talking to my fifteen-year-old nephew today and he started telling me about "This great thing online - it's Harry Potter in Fifteen Minutes and it's so freaking funny!"

*G* Thought you might like that.

Of course! I was all, "She has a lot of those! She's got a book coming out! I KNOW her!" I namedropped like a big ol' namedropping thing.

I was gonna try to get to the Summit party tonight, 'cause the one here in T-Town looked like it was gonna be a drag. However, my funds are limited, and, well...

It's Johnny Depp, y'all. How could I NOT choose the movie?

I think I spontaneously conceived his child, by the way.
BEST. MOVIE. EVER.

It was sooo good. The crowd actually applauded at the end of the movie-- and then most of the movie audience got up and followed me to the bookstore. Somehow I think Charlie isn't going to be hurt by HP very much. The opposite, in fact.

I can totally imagine Wonka dangling one of the kids over the balcony... ("That's weird!")

I'm off to read the wizard!

Dude, I got total Michael jackson vibes from that movie! [well, not all that recent nasty stuff, but more like insane baby-dangling Michael]
But it was goo-oo-ood!

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Heh. Depp swears he didn't channel MJ on purpose, but rather that he wanted the character to have no social skills and to do/say things he thought were totally cool, not realizing that everyone else thinks he's a weirdo and a dork. To which I can only say, "So... like Michael Jackson, then?"

Date: 2005-07-16 06:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] particle-person.livejournal.com
Yeah, I read that, and my verdict is: Michael Jackson.

Ebert felt the same, although he didn't like Depp's performance. I thought he was superb.

You staying up to finish the book?

Man, I've been around your journal every now and then, generally due to Movies In Fifteen Minutes (I iconned your PoA entry), but I just happened to be scrolling through for some good HBP wank, saw this entry, and had to check to see if the Summit you mentioned was the one I thought it was. OMFG YOU LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM?! Damn! That's where I'm usually from, though I'm currently residing in limbo in Georgia until my husband finds a job. If I'd been in the area for the HBP release I would've been at the Books-A-Million in Trussville, but still... heh. Would've been awesome to meet you--I think you're hilarious. :)
