yes. it's well-made and has some great things about it, but it doesn't entirely coalesce. in some ways it's a female analog to sideways. i wrote about it here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/modpixie/687737.html) (next to last paragraph has small spoiler).
Damn, I don't think so. I really wanted to see that, too. I think Look at Me is the one Em wants to see, though, so I'll just buck up and work on brushing up my French. : )
I saw "Howl's Moving Castle". I can't give an honest review of it since I've read the book it was based on. During the entire movie, my friend and I were poking each other and whispering things like "Her hair...it should be red!" "And her dress is gray in the book".
Still, it is really, really pretty, so if it does come out where you are, I would reccomend it.
Howl's Moving Castle is absolutely amazing. If you've read the book it was based on, forget everything you knew about it and you'll adore the movie. If you haven't, you'll still adore it. Definitely go see it as soon as it comes out where you are. :D
Wow, where do you live that you have options to see movies like that? We have the BIG!Movie theatre with the stadium seating that plays the BIG!movies and we have the downtown movie theatre that I can't go to 'cause it makes me claustrophobic and we have 'The Screening Room' which shows one obscure film a month. We never get cool things here. We didn't even get Delovely.
Brushing up your French is good, but not at the sake of your sanity. Just pop in a happy DVD and turn the dubbing track on (I recommend LOTR or Phantom of the Opera, or Spiderman if you want to laugh). Wait...do Americans have French tracks on their DVDs?
I am currently in 9th grade, and I was wondering if my technology class could make a movie based on your phantom of the opera piece? We will, of course, give you all the credit for writing it. I do need to edit some parts, because my tech teacher doesn't like swear words and overly-obvious sexual refferences(I personally have no problem with them, heh), just to let you know. I think it would be really fun to do, and would completely out-shine Gilgamesh, the old crown jewel of our movie unit. erm, I'm rambling. I am a big fan of your work, and I would be really grateful if you would give us permission to do this. ^^ thanks, and keep on writing!
I've actually given several school/theater groups permission to do it for non-profit reasons, so that's cool. All I ask is that I get a copy of the tape, written credit (like a title card or something, in this case), and... I forget what else, so clearly it wasn't that important. Oh, a copy of the program, but that's a theater thing, so never mind.
Also, since you need to edit things--which I totally understand--you may want to send me a list of the things you need to change. If you want to skip lines or scenes entirely, that's fine. But if you end up having to sub in different words, I might be able to help y'all think of something that could work--someone once did that (well, they were reposting my work without my permission anyway), and "Oh shit!" got changed to "Oh poopy!" I'm just saying, I can help y'all think of something better than that.
