Click on it! It's a weblog survey thing at MIT. They give you cryptic graphics when you finish so you can weird people out and possibly convince them to fill out the survey as well.

I did it too a couple days ago. I wish they would have a choice about the link thing "just funny." Why did you link to that? You know, it was just funny. But that wasn't an option. Oh well. I'll be interested to see the results.

It looks like you could just go to http://blogsurvey.media.mit.edu/images/ to see the images available. there seems to be only 5 there.

*wondering who Cameron is*

Cameron?

That's exactly what I wondered when I saw the selections. (I went with "I am a statistic.")

Sorry--I was completely unclear about that. If you take the survey, there's this section where they pull up everything you've linked to in the last week or so. Then you have to CHOOSE why you linked to that thing. The survey offered things like "informative" and "useful". I was just commenting that I would have really liked a "Just funny" selection. Because so many of the things I link to, well, they're not really informative or useful, they're just funny.

But I wondered who Cameron was too. :-) They had almost 10,000 respondents when I did it. Wonder how many they have now.

Took the survey just a bit ago, and they do have something along "just funny" lines now. Perhaps you were not alone in that opinion? ^^

He is the MIT grad student who set up the blog survey: Cameron Marlow (http://overstated.net/).

From his blog: "Ok just an update: as soon as my survey hit LiveJournal I've basically spent my time holding the server up with my own two hands."

BWAHAHA! I am so proud of the LJ community.

I've been seeing this all over recently - I just took it myself a little while ago.

I like the buttons because it makes it kind of like a meme or quiz, making it more likely that more people will take it.

A quiz from MIT! How novel!

Oh, the humanity! Oh, the bandwidth!

That thing just keeps on popping up around my (reasonably disparate) flist!

It'd be interesting to do some kind of meta-MIT-survey to work out how people got there...

It's probably irony, or an alarming first sign of developing some sort of superpower allowing you to black-out the internet for people who try to pass off your works as their own. ;)

Yet another web oddity that seems to be sweeping LJ. Of course, I too have succumbed to the Weblog Survey madness.
What a group of lemmings bloggers, myself included, can be.

BTW, congrats on the school stuff. I'm in an MA program myself and know exactly how some things become works of inspired genius at the last second.

wow, this was quite a cool little survey. Actually, it's sort of related to the stuff I'm interested in studying, so I'm quite glad you posted it.

This is totally off-topic, but I just was re-reading your BPAL review entry of a few weeks ago. (I'm so totally hooked on this stuff now...) I noticed that you wrote that you were looking for an apple-blossom type scent. I'm not actually sure what apple blossoms smell like (apples, I guess? I need to spend more time around trees, maybe.) but if they do smell like apples, have you tried the scent called The Hesperides? It's in the Bewitching Brews category. I just got an imp of it and it's quite nicely apple-like.

Oh, good! I have Hesperides on the way in an order that should be here... someday.

I tried to take the survey but it said I don't have any links. :/ While it's true that I don't have one of the fancier backgrounds with permanent recommended links along the side or whatever, I do have links here and there within the bodies of posts, and some of them even point to other stuff outside of my journal. [wry smile] I take it that's not what they're looking for, though? That they just want permanent links that show in your background or whatever?

Angie, somewhat confused

Cleo, I'm putting this here so you might see it and it won't get lost in the shuffle of comments in a more popular entry.

Thank you again, you have been wonderful.
