Update from the homefront: The Lovely Emily and I have just gotten back from Batman Begins (two thumbs up, but don't take the kids), after which we reserved our copies of Harry Potter at the big Barnes & Noble (midnight party, yay!) and roamed the shelves for a while, and now we're back at Casa Cleo ordering a pizza. Whee!

I hear Batman is good so I can't wait to see it. Of course I've been in love with Christian Bale since Little Women days.

I'm determined to go to my local book store for their Harry Potter party. I honestly am pretty sure I'll have to read the end first.

Enjoy the relaxation and not slaving in front of a keyboard -- unless, of course, you want to slave. W00t.

One of my favourite pastimes is ordering pizza... and we live just a two-minute walk from the pizza place. But delivered pizza is just better than pizza you went and picked up yourself.

OMGMIDNIGHTHARRYPOTTERPARTYJEALOUSY!

Seriously, am I the only HP fan in this universe who has never been to a release party? It really feels like that some days.

I'm glad that you think Batman Begins is good, because my friend is dragging me to see it. I was considering bringing a book and a flashlight, being uninterested in comic book movies. But if it's good, maybe I'll just sneak in a walkman.

Have any of the Batman films been kid appropriate? Well, the latter two aren't scary per se, but you shouldn't let children grow up thinking that's how you make movies.

Whee indeed! Sounds like you're getting a well-deserved fun night.

I myself watched All the President's Men. It was wacky fun.

See, the idiots at our 8:20 showing? Did bring the kids. And one of them was kicking the head of my seat. MORONS.

Consider them object lessons on what not to do, kiddies.

You're just reserving NOW? Omg! LOL I have three copies (roomie, me, neice) already reseved...

(Kids + movies = sometimes ok) I had a "hot date" with an 11 year old boy whom I've known since he was wee... Took him to see his first Star Wars movie in the theater... and there was a little boy behind me sitting on his dad's lap, and at the 'scary' parts, he would occasionally kick my seat- I couldn't be mad because I remember being that little and watching The Empire Strikes Back from underneath a couch cushion. =)

Haha. I grew up on the '89 Batman movie and that was straight-up Tim Burton craziness.

At the B&N I worked at when I lived in Orlando I was dressed as Hermoine Granger for the Book Five release party. I ran a trivia contest in which the prize was candy so I was very popular. I had my best friend dress up as Professor Snape to indulge me in my OTP. I highly encourage you to dress up if you can, it makes it SOOOO much more fun.

The husband and I just got home from seeing it too, and it rocks! :D Christian is so awesome in that, and so it Liam! This has got to make a pile of money so they can make the next two he's contracted for! [boing!]

I have no particular Batman nostalgia at all, and I want to see it again. It's a lot more like a straight police action thriller in a lot of places--I mean, yes, you have the Bat Tank, but there's absolutely no cheese or camp for miles.

Well, at the same time, they were kind of campy fun, you know? It's easy for parents to forget all the innuendo that was in Batman Returns, for example. But this one? I knew we were in trouble when Bruce's parents got gunned down and one of the little boys climbed into his father's lap and clung to him for the next hour. And that fear powder or whatever was frickin' TERRIFYING. Those kids are never, ever sleeping again.
