May. 10th, 2005 02:53 pmGood news: I just got my first set of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab samples last night. (Tamora, Titania, Neo-Tokyo, Persephone, Jezebel, Siren [omg! delish], and my freebie was Veil. More on those when I have more time.)*
Bad news: There won't be a Lost recap this week, either.
* ETA: Seriously, if there's a place to say so, tell 'em Cleolinda or cleolinda.livejournal.com sent you, if that's how you found out about BPAL.

Date: 2005-05-10 08:02 pm (UTC)Also, I don't know that it's a SM reference--it's from the Wanderlust section, where all the scents used to be "Old Shanghai" or "Old Kyoto," and they finally dropped the "Old" part of all the names. I think Neo-Tokyo is supposed to have an urban, metallic edge to the bamboo and cherry blossom and whatnot, so "Old Tokyo" wasn't really appropriate.
However, they do have whole lines of Cthulhu/Arkham scents, Shakespearean scents, tarot scents, blends named for literary characters like Valmont and Merteuil, voodoo love potions... I wouldn't put a SM reference past Elizabeth.

*cries* I was dying for your views on Sawyer actually doing work on the raft instead of just shooing away seagulls, and his mad baby-shushing skillz yo. ^_^

Date: 2005-05-10 10:22 pm (UTC)Good luck with the book! I'll skip the recap for your greater creative efforts. (Maybe you should order some Wolf's Heart from the Voodoo line...'course by then you'll be done anyway.) I love you to pieces and want you to do well and what the hell, there's always summer reruns. MmmSawyer...

Date: 2005-05-10 10:56 pm (UTC)I really liked Jezebel, but the one time I tried it (last night), it was all sandalwood on me, and I wanted the rose and orange to come out more. It smelled good, but... it seemed like more of a special occasion scent than a working-at-my-desk scent. I really want to order Tintagel in my next batch, so you'll have to tell me what you think when you get it. And speaking of aquatic, I really want to try R'lyeh, which was described on the boards as "evil, aquatic grapefruit." Mmmm.

Oh, and for
Rent A Phantom: The Movie (http://s38.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0DL8HOC8DW9V00CVB26ATZMXVI)
It's a little under 19 MB, Quicktime format. It'll be shown as part of the experimental writing festival this Friday at UMass-Amherst.

Date: 2005-05-11 12:35 am (UTC)Out of curiosity, when did you place your order? I'm trying to make a rough estimate as to when my first batch will reach me. (Bon Vivant, La Belle au Bois Dormant, Titania, Glasgow, Bewitched, Moon Rose, Morgause, Ophelia, Dublin, Spellbound, Marie, and The Unicorn...in case anyone was wondering!)

Date: 2005-05-11 12:38 am (UTC)I placed my order in late March, and just got it yesterday. It'll probably take a good six weeks, and the more popular they get, the less that will change.
(Damn, you ordered a lot of the stuff I want--Bon Vivant, Bois Dormant, Glasgow, Moon Rose, Unicorn... and I'm thinking about most of the others as well. All I can say is that I really like Titania so far, out of those.)
