Horoscope of Irony: If you're feeling a little slower than usual, honor that. Don't force yourself to do anything.

YOU'RE NOT HELPING, HOROSCOPE.

Spent like an hour dancing at my desk (you know, while doing other things) to that guitarry remix of "Somebody Told Me," because it makes me happy.

A little linkspam before I head out for class (last Aesthetics of Sentimentality ever, sniff!), in part to clarify a few questions that came up in the comments over the weekend:

Yes, Jeff Buckley died in 1997.

Yes, Jonathan Brandis died in 2003.

Yes, His Dark Materials is now on stage. The link is an excellent official site with lots of behind-the-scenes clips.

And in the news:

Exploding toads baffle German experts. As well they should.

Exploding toads baffle German experts.

maybe it's because it's 3.30am and i'm sitting up drinking tea and eating vegemite slathered biscuits, but oh my god that's hysterically funny!

"You see the animals crawling on the ground, swelling and then exploding."
...their entrails were propelled for up to a metre (three feet).

is it bad of me that i REALLY REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS? er. maybe chalk it up to the obnoxious hour of the morning thing.

"is it bad of me that i REALLY REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS?" That? would be a "Yes, yes it IS bad." But you would have found that out anyway when the toad guts were launched in your general direction.

I love that toad thing; it sounds like something Dave Barry has (or will) cover. I especially love how they've nicknamed the source of it the "pond of death". It's like "puddle of maiming" or "juice box spill of bruising".

So have these German experts looked into whether these frogs have been eating Pop Rocks and drinking Coke? Because that would be my first logical conclusion.

From: [identity profile] morganwolf.livejournal.com
Now, I grew accustomed to the sight of toads squished flat in the roads when I would visit North Carolina in my youth, but the sight of an exploding toad is quite a different thing, I'd imagine. I... certainly hope they discover the cause of this bizarre... and yet strangely hilarious... phenomenon. Maybe if it were any other animal it would be less funny. I'm sorry, toads, you're just comical creatures.

Jonathan Brandis' death still haunts me. Really, it does.

If I were a scientist, I don't think I'd stop laughing long enough to be baffled. God, scientists are such squares. Even thinking about Jeff Buckley's death only quells the giggles for a moment or two.

I was one of those who cried upon finding out of J.B.'s death. And to learn it
happened a week before I even heard about it, and the fact that many still don't know he's
dead. Kinda gives one an idea of what Hollywood does to those actors it doesn't
deem important enough for front page news...

My sister and I lived on SeaQuest for awhile (the re-runs on Sci-Fi) it was
like a support system during our parent's divorce.

And of course, who can forget Neverending story! Jump Bastian!

HELP!

I put up a comment a few entries ago about doing a spin-off on Rent-A-Phantom, and I really want to do a disclaimer, but I can't find the origanal text for Phantom! I've been searching for about 20 minutes and can anyone help me? Does anyone possibly have that entry bookmarked? Because my brain is dead from jetlag and I need to get this done soon.

Thank you

Cleo,

I know you always say that you don't have a TiVo and so your lost recaps are kind of sketchy and you sometimes miss other shows (like Veronica Mars) so here's something cool.

Does anyone beside me think they should cast an unknown as Aslan's voice? I'm thinking of how they introduced Darth Vader. At the time Vader was introduced, no one knew who played him or voiced his character ....

Aslan is such an iconic role that I think it would be better played by someone who could come in fresh ....
