Get your pimp requests in, kids, because today's the last day of Pimp Request Amnesty Week (although maybe I'll do another one next month):

From [livejournal.com profile] theonlykow: "So I normally don't ask for stuff like this, but it is your pimp week (apparently) and despite our pastry/confection disagreements, I ask for a pimp of my new layout community, [livejournal.com profile] not_layouts. I do layouts (pretty layouts! GORGEOUS LAYOUTS!) for people for free, and although I appreciate donations of paid time and whatnot, I really only do it because I have a shitload of creativity that I have no outlet for. Also, I love layouts. Also, I get bored easily."

From [livejournal.com profile] tabbyclaw: "I wouldn't pimp normally, but I don't think anyone who actually reads my journal watches "LOST" and I <3 debating about it, so here's my survey."

From [livejournal.com profile] sapphires13: "I'm trying to increase awareness of my graphics requests community [livejournal.com profile] morethanicons. We make just about everything, from icons, to wallpapers, to whatever. But business, so to speak, is slow. Advertising in promo communities full of people advertising their Paris Hilton infused rating communities, just isn't getting the job done. Nor is it bringing me the quality of requests that I desire."

And, since You Share It apparently both sucks and blows:

OK, must know what samples you ordered from BPAL - I'm drowning in lists of scents I want now, scents I want later, and scents that sound like they could introduce me to a multiple orgasm.

scents that sound like they could introduce me to a multiple orgasm

Word on the street: "O." Also "Snake Oil" and "La Petite Mort," but... O. Also, go read the thread on "Dorian" at bpal.org, if you haven't already--I think it's a guy/unisex scent, but good Lord, did it get that first poster het up.

Me, I ordered six based on LJ reviews, and now that I've read the first couple of posts of just about every bpal.org review thread... I kinda wish I'd ordered differently. I don't know why, since I want them all anyway, but... I ordered Neo-Tokyo, because I wanted something with an apple/cherry blossom scent; Tamora and Titania; Jezebel and Siren; and... what was the other one, there was another one... Persephone! Supposedly Persephone is "the wettest, juiciest rose you've ever smelled" with some pomegranate thrown in. Apparently Elizabeth is amazing with her variety of rose scents--they're all completely different, so if you like roses, Persephone may be a good bet.

I have this huge list of stuff I want to get next--apparently you get free samples when you order anything, so I'm afraid to order more until I see what I get. But on my absolutely-must-have-ASAP list are the O/Snake Oil/Petite Mort combo (I hear, though that Petite Mort is like the best of O and Snake Oil put together, so if you only get one, get that one). I also desperately want Glasgow, Silk Road, Belle Epoque, Nosferatu, and either Eve or Hesperides (it's an apple tossup on those two). I'm also looking at Fae, Endymion, The Unicorn, Leanan Sidhe, Paris, Alice, and Vice (the really chocolaty one that's more complex than Bliss). I want a tarot blend, but you have to spring for an entire bottle of those, so I don't know.

(I also want to get Vladimir some samples for his birthday. Shhhhh.)

Have you ordered anything? What's on your list?

Snake Oil was on my list, as a definite - complete with little stars next to the name. :) I was also looking at Bastet, Black Lotus, La Petit Mort (aw yeah, anything that means "The Little Death" and refers to a soul-shattering orgasm is a plus, thank), Mata Hari, The Raven, Velvet, & Haunted. There's probably going to be others but I haven't gone through the whole site yet. *grin* I love the darker, sexy scents.

After reading the review on "Dorian" I think I may have to buy the sample. Just so I can see if I do indeed picture the proper Victorian gentleman doing naughty things in the doily-encrusted parlour.

I hear a lot of good things about Haunted--I always keep an eye out for when people say things like, "I liked this scent, but I'm kind of stuck on Queen Mab and Haunted right now." (Which then made me want Queen Mab, too.)

All the ones you mention sounded good--Mata Hari particularly intrigued me, although I don't like coffee. My problem is that I can't wear heavy musks (or strong French lavender, for that matter)--I tend to like citrus and light fruit/florals/herbals, maybe some vanilla. So you sound like you have some great choices, from what I remember reading about them--they're just the opposite of what I can wear. ; )

(Oh, and check out the Casanova review thread--I think it was compared favorably to Dorian. "Like Dorian but stronger," or something.)

And while I'm thinking about it--I seem to remember several really rich, heavy scents--Blood Rose? Blood Kiss? I can't remember which one. Offhand... you might want to look at Blood, Sacred Whore of Babylon ("This is a dark scent"), Debauchery, and Black Phoenix. And definitely check out Dracul and Nosferatu.

Ooh, thank you!! I'm looking up the ones you listed as I speak. Those reviews are so helpful! This place is going to send a sweet-smelling me into the poorhouse, I just know it. Whee!

In honor of "Pimp Request Amnesty Week" - there's an online petition for a release of the Instrumental version of "Cells" by The Servant:

http://www.petitiononline.com/sc100/petition.html

Who knows if it will do any good, but what harm could it do?

Hmm. Well, ordinarily I wouldn't do this, but your pimp week just happens to coincide with the comm. I recently started just getting off the ground.

Soooo. If you don't mind posting:

I just started a community for fans of the awesome Irish comedian, Dylan Moran (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0602836/). He's a stand-up comic who wrote and starred in Black Books (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/B/blackbooks/) and played David in Shaun of the Dead. We're having an icon-making contest that starts tomorrow, and we really want to get the word out to anyone who's a fan and wants to join in.
Everyone is welcome at [livejournal.com profile] yourdailydylan!

Thanks Lauren!

[livejournal.com profile] cleolindadear, you're so good for pimping. And sexy.
If you would pimp [livejournal.com profile] firstchair, a community for young musicians who love "classical" music and music in general, I'd love you forever.
Also, [livejournal.com profile] gay_ravers is a great community that is quite self-explanatory. I moderate/maintain both.
