Nnnngh. Feverish again. On Allegra D now, so we'll see how that works overnight. Just got a text message from Vladimir, who's in Germany, so that's nice. May have just made a major breakthrough in figuring out how to type messages on my phone, so that's also nice--oh, look, there's another one. Hee.

Spent most of class gaping stupidly. Small seminar class (eight people), so this is bad. However, the one guy in our class actually baked us a cake from a recipe that's been in his family four generations. Homemade icing, too. No, he's straight. Yes, he has a girlfriend (better luck next time, ladies). Was all right otherwise, except for reminders of mortality presentation I have to do Wednesday. File under "worst timing ever."

Think I may have decided what to write term paper on--has to be about "aesthetics" and "sentimentality"-and/or-"sympathy" and a modern example thereof. Figure I'll kill two birds with one stone and put my many, many Titanic viewings to use. (Hey, if C. can do Sex and the City, I can do Titanic.) Will be about the dueling themes of rebellion and community in the movie, I think. Fnarrr.

Homework for the week after that: watch The King and I. Then we're going to workshop drafts at an Indian restaurant. God bless grad school.

Must go fight with Sister Girl for possession of thermostat. Sixty-five degrees outside and she has the frickin' heat on. Plus parents have the fireplace on--yes, "on"; gas logs--downstairs, and the heat always rises and stuffs up my room. Not hers; just mine. Cannot art under these conditions. Philistines, all of them. *shakes fist weakly, bursts out coughing*

Jeez, you really don't sound too good. =/ I hope you feel better soon.

A cake with homemade icing? THAT'S NOT FAIR.

I would call out the Balrog to destroy them but A. you might be kinda attached to them and B. The fire might just make you feel hotter.

So instead, I send you cold thoughts (for real, it snowed here two days ago. Take it. Love it. Feel better, for the love of God!)

Having a cold is the "new thing" apparently. Everyone is doing it. For real, at least five or six people on my floor, including my RA, are all sick. It's a bummer.

Bless your heart...I hope the Allegra works. Too bad the workshop drafts weren't today. Indian food might have helped unclog you a little.

Tell your family that you will covertly drink from every glass they use for the next two days if they don't comply with your temperature demands. If that fails, you must resort to desperate measures.

Lick the thermostat. :o)

Well, except for the part that they're for the paper for which I just now thought of an idea. They're due too soon as it is...

I will send you what I get from my wonderful mother when I am sick ...

"Ohh, honey! Are you sick? Ya know, something IS going around. Make sure you sleep and get plenty of fluids. Do you want some soup? I made some homemade chicken noodle. I'll bring it over. No, don't worry, I made it in the crock pot - so it is no trouble. I'll pick you up some Ny-Quil too. Do you need me to go to the grocery store? No? Do you want some magazines or something to read? Okay, you just rest, honey. I'll be over with the groceries and to drop off the soup in a little while. Call me if you need anything else. "

Hugs and hope you get better soon.

Or booze and honey. Bourbon, if you've got it.

Hey, do not doubt the restorative powers of a hot toddy. It'll work wonders for a bad cough, and helps clear up head congestion.

I hope it is allergies cuz they are the quickest to get better. Due to the messed up weather the country has been having, trees are going out of whack and seem to be release pollen by the truckload. Here our pollen count on Oak pollen was 5500, and 500 is usually considered high and prone to trigger strong allergic reaction, so imagine why everyone in this town is sick. Hope the Allegra D works! I'm glad you got the D variant because thats loaded with antihystamines, usually a whole days dosage in one pill along with the allegra. Usually fights off any chance of the allergies winning that day. Hope you feel better!

Nonono, are you high? We hope it's a cold because colds go away. Allergies are forever. Or at least they feel that way, especially with a pollen count of 5500, yeesh, and you have my deepest sympathies.

I thought the D stood for decongestant. But what do I know? Allegra does jack-all for me anyway.

Question for any who care to answer: Will watching Dracula 2000 at 11:00pm alone in a dark apartment result in night shakes with a 40% chance of nickel-sized molly-cobbles? For reference, Donnie Darko had this effect.

The only shaking that might occur would be from laughter, so I'd say you're safe! But I'd keep some ice handy or have a fan going because, cheesy movie aside, Gerry's Dracula is fiiiiiinnnnne. ::: fans self :::

Dude, get better soon! We're missing you over on the Butler's thread at Snarkfest!

And, you know, Gerry's missing you, too. See - here's he's trying to cure your cold by the sheer force of his Scottish animal magnetism (http://www.gerard-butler.net/4images/details.php?image_id=9419). If that doesn't work (and if it doesn't then girl, you're probably terminally ill) he's got a Plan B (http://www.gerard-butler.net/4images/details.php?image_id=9487). Because a big, um, sword will cure just about anything.

See... I don't think I'll be back on that thread. Nothing personal, but... the conversation's just a little too graphic for me. I'm more of a subtle innuendo kind of girl, and... yeah. But y'all are having a good time, so live long and prosper and all that Vulcan stuff.

I'm telling you, Zyrtec is the answer. It's a miracle allergy drug. I would sell my soul to Zyrtec if it would get it to me for less that $150 a bottle. (I swear I'm not a Pfizer shill. I'm pissed at them for charging so much for a drug I could get over-the-counter in Canada.) But, seriously-- ZYYYYYYRTEC!

Date: 2005-04-09 07:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] exiledprincess.livejournal.com
I will second the Zyrtec love. I think it may have actually (mostly) cured my allergies. I went off it a couple years ago because I couldn't afford it anymore, and I managed to get through the spring two falls just fine. I needed it last spring (new environment), but managed last fall and so far, this spring, witout needing it again. Also, when I went back on, it starting working pretty quickly.

$150, ouch. I had insurance, otherwise I'd never have managed it.
