Could this Sin City review BE any more spoilerific? Damn. (Seriously, do not click that link unless you literally want to be spoiled for the endings of the Marv/Goldie story, the Hartigan/Nancy story, and what the hell Creepy!Elijah Wood is doing in the movie at all. I was just expecting to hear, you know, "the directing/acting/cinematography is amazing/disappointing/whatever," not "and you'll really be blown away by THIS SCENE THAT YOU TOTALLY DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BEFOREHAND, THANKS." But I know some of y'all were looking for spoilers... so.)

M. Night Shyamalan's next movie:
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Sixth Sense" helmer M. Night Shyamalan will write and direct his next film, the fantasy thriller "Lady in the Water," for Warner Bros. Pictures. "Water" centers on the superintendent of an apartment building who finds a rare type of sea nymph swimming in the apartment pool.
The only reason I'm intrigued is that... well, that's what they're telling you up front. I don't even want to know what else is going on.

It's... a long story.
[livejournal.com profile] aperrin2: We Bennets should gang up and control the internets!

[livejournal.com profile] allthelivesofme: Hmmmm.... *evil, deranged laughter*

[livejournal.com profile] aperrin2: We need an anthem. How about:

Mine eyes have seen the snarking of the terminally bored
They have spooged in all the forums (where the wanks of yore are stored)
They are soon to be enlightened by our literary sword
The Bennetts are marching on.

(Glory Glory etc.)

I have seen these petty pissants when they're wanking in the night
They hardly need a reason to pause and pick a fight
The Bennetts and the Joneses will shortly set 'em right
Cause their HEDS IS PASTED ON!

(YAY!)

I like M. Night Shyamalan's movies. Even though every time I see one I end up asking myself: Whaaaaaaat? That's stupid!

example? Signs, that I will not spoil for others right now...

(oh and you are listening to a beautiful song)

Signs, that I will not spoil for others right now...

I KNOW! It had a wonderfully Hitchcockian sense of xenophobia, paranoia and increasing claustrophobia, RIGHT. UNTIL. THEN.

The problem I have with Shyamalan is that he's a great storyteller with a wonderful eye, who just can't write a decent ending. At all.

DENNIS: Listen, Strange women lying in ponds disturbing apartment superintendants is no basis for a movie. A good movie's power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony ripped from King Arthur!
SHYAMALAN: Be quiet!
DENNIS: Well you can't expect to make a good movie just 'cause some watery tart suddenly showed up in an apartment pool!
SHYAMALAN: Shut up!
DENNIS: I mean, if I went around sayin' I was a great movie director just because some moistened bint had flapped her fins seductively at me in a pool they'd put me away!
SHYAMALAN: Shut up! Will you shut up!
DENNIS: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system.
SHYAMALAN: Shut up!
DENNIS: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP! HELP! I'm being repressed!
SHYAMALAN: Bloody critic!

I'm so totally excited about the Sin City movie. I've read all of the books, and I guess the movie is made up of three (or four) of them or something. EEE! And Elijah is playing my favorite character from the first book. YAY!

Have you read them?

And the Shyamalan movie? I'm all for the weird movies, but... o_O I'm not sure I even want to know on that one.

And the awful thing? Is that I now have it stuck in my head. Except it's all mixed up with the original, so I find myself thinking blasphemous stuff like:

He has spooged in all the forums (where the Grapes of Wrath are stored)
...

Also, I predict the sea nymph willreally be Jesus. It's where his films have been headed lately.

Jesus in a spangled two-piece with rubber arm-floaties and an iridescent tail...excellent.

anthem iconses, yes.

But, and this is a but of epic proportions, I really (after ten years of being an Austenfen) really, really do not understand the appeal of Colin Firth. Period. Especially in a wet shirt with strategic embroidery.

eh, to each her own. the reasons i like or don't like people tend not to have logical reasons, so i (usually) don't try to explain. or demand explanations.

and despite all evidence to the contrary, i'm not some insipid fangirl who only likes Austen because of the wet shirt. it was my favorite book years before i saw the movie, i promise!
