Mar. 15th, 2005 07:15 pmQuick question, Brits: I have a line in the new parody that says, "ENGLISH AUDIENCE: I paid seven bucks to see this?" I think you can spot the obvious problem here. What's the basic, stereotypical full price for a movie in a British theater? (Feel free to use slang if you want.)
ETA: Keep in mind that this is for a movie that came out in 1995. We can lowball the number, is all I'm saying.

Screen Digest, a media research consultancy, says the average cost of a UK cinema ticket was £3.43 in 1995, compared to £4.49 today. Tell that to the cinema bosses in Leicester Square."

Date: 2005-03-16 07:53 am (UTC)It's worth noting that cinema prices (like everything else) is much more expensive in London than in the rest of the country.
And can I put up a plea for it to be 'BRITISH AUDIENCE' rather than ENGLISH? The two aren't synonymous!

Date: 2005-03-16 11:32 am (UTC)But I see a lot of stuff on 'Orange Wednesdays' here in South Wales, as well as Cheap Tuesdays. Pay between £2.80 and £3.50. In that scenario, it would be more a case of 'I spent two hours of my life on this crap?'

Date: 2005-03-16 05:32 pm (UTC)Where I live (Dunstable) the closest cinema is in Luton and it costs 2 quid to GET there on the bus and six quid (five with NUS discount) on every other day but tuesday when its about 4.50 i think, for a ticket. Sad thing is that I have to do work experience on tuesdays and no one wants to wait for me to finish working so we can go as a group. So basically it costs me a tenner to go to see a film.
*Is sad*....yeah, I'll shut up....IF YOU PAY ME!! *cough*
