Well, yes, except that I can't because that particular livejournal has nothing to reply to, and no e-mail, so WAAAAAHHHH!!!! So you will please do it for me, yes?
Yeah, I haven't started blogging for real yet. I'm in grad school, dissertation time is fast approaching (1.5 more year +/-!) and I'm a bit wary of starting something that will take so much time. I hang around here with some regularity, tho. Must. Get. Cleo-crack.
Also, please accept my MOST SINCERE apologies for assuming you are female. Not knowing what the "a" stood for in "aperrin2", I just sort of....went the direction of most LJers, which I should know better than to do. Again, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Oh, don't worry about that. I do that myself much too often to be offended by other people doing it to me. (It is kinda funny that on LJ people's usual default gender assumptions get flipped. Probably a good learning experience for guys.)
Well I don't get it every day. Much sympathy to those who do.
If you want to see the good guys/girls beating the horsesh*t out of some hardcore misogynists, go here (it's cheaper than therapy): http://nielsenhayden.com/electrolite/archives/006122.html
Some twit named Vox Day claims "Women do not write hard science fiction today because so few can hack the physics" and many male and female science fiction writers come and pound on him until he is jelly.
You know, you think you're living in the twenty-first century, and then some IRREDEEMABLE MORON comes along to prove that we as a society have not managed to advance the least of us past "the little woman who can't do anything" stage.
Did you get down to the part where "Nick B" shows up? He's even worse than Vox, if possible, AND he claims to be a teacher. Now you can be REALLY afraid for society.
That's one of the things I find so fascinating about the internet. There are some areas where the poster is more likely to be male, but generally, on most message boards and chatty-chatty communities, percentages favor the female.
