Another recap... FROM THE FUTURE! Not mine, however. Also, I would think that Chris Rock would be a lot funnier than... whatever that is.

So: here are my official pick-to-win Oscar predictions, based partly on the EW Oscar issue, because damn if I know what's going to win best short animated documentary whatever. However, I'm still iffy on several of them (Score and Song particularly), several races are still very tight, and if you're playing to win, I suggest you put Morgan Freeman instead of Clive Owen. I just couldn't bring myself to put anyone other than Clive and Cate in the supporting categories, despite my resolution to kick pool ass.

Presents! (Vladimir: "What is this, Oscarmas?") So I got Tim Tams from [livejournal.com profile] redyu (yay!), and two Cate posters (The Gift and Veronica Guerin) from [livejournal.com profile] mariadeluca (yay!)--and then! and then! Vladimir's impromptu "yay for finishing Titanic" present arrives, and it is Anna Dollerious. It is seriously one of the best costume replicas I have seen on a doll; the one variation is the hair, which is not in long loose curls (see prototype picture on link); it's in supatight supacurls that just pass her shoulders. The effect of this is that Anna Dollerious has, essentially... poseable hair. You can do "windblown," or "falling from a cliff," or "dead from smush," and it totally holds. And hooooo boy, does Anna Dollerious have some awesome bitchface. This is probably not the best sentence to follow that with, but it's also a really good likeness of Kate Beckinsale. (Heh.)

Also? She has a GUN. And a SWORD. And a DAGGER. And they all school Fugagorn's sad, crooked ranger sword (bless). (Eowyn Doll has just handed me a note to pass to Anna. It says, "Will you be my friend? Yes / No / Maybe. P.S. I like swords.") And she has the buckled thigh-high boots and the corset (tied in the back with tiny red thread!) and EVERYTHING, WHEE.

(Shut up, I love dolls. If Sideshow or Franklin Mint or Ashton Drake came out with new Emmy!Christine dolls, my wallet would die and be dead.)

Please for to go to sleep now, as I am tired, and have a lot of blogging ahead of me tomorrow...

Best parts of that Oscar recap... FROM THE FUTURE!:

10:32: Rock says Collateral would be more believable if the Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise didn't seem like lovers.

10:39: Rock introduces presenter Orlando Bloom as "the gay hobbit."

10:53: Rock says I, Robot is up for a special-effects award because it made Will Smith look like a black man.

11:30: Rock says goodnight, singling out several losers by name and adding, "Better luck next year, suckas!"

Oscar picks sound good to me. Was there any logic behind the 27-minutes-over choice, or did you just go with a random number?

Vladimir spoils you, seriously. That is pretty awesome.

He does! It is! : )

Here's my logic behind running late: once they've gone past the hour/half-hour mark, that's a half-hour slot they've basically rendered useless to ABC. Yeah, ABC could show a twenty-minute block of commercials, but once the Oscars are over, everyone's going to turn off the TV or change channels anyway, so in order to keep people watching those commercials, it's actually more beneficial to keep the show going. So basically, if you're going to run five minutes late, you may as well run 25(+) minutes late, at that point. Following that logic, I just picked a random number over 25.

...that sentence alone has made me smile for the first time today. Someone needs to write a theme song for you to the tune of Cheers (when you're having a bad day, just come to Cleo's, where there are talking dolls and smushing Annas and many a funny story and everyone is happy yay for run on sentences! And put that in song form!)

I think I might need some sleep too. Sorry if I freaked ya out... I get kinda cracked out around this time.

Awwwww, that's adorable. I hope Anna circled yes. ('cause Eowyn might have to kick her ass otherwise.)

Man, I feel sad and lame. I've not yet seen Van Helsing.

You're not missing out, dude. I finally saw it a few weeks ago, and...yeeps. I guess it's kind of fun in its own way, but I'm pretty lenient (I was the guy who liked Hulk!) and I can't really call it good.

Yay! The posters got to you!
*dances happily*
Sorry about the amount of tape I used to close it up, but... I kind of black out when I get tape in my hands and when I wake up... well, you had to hack it off so you know.
As for the doll thing...
*brain is already formulating ideas for other gifts for [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda*
If I ever see an Emmy!Christine doll I'll make sure to get two (since I would die without one too).

Gerard!Phantom and Patrick!Raoul doll ...

Given the amount of love for these guys on the Fametracker forum, I their dolls would quickly be involved in some strange, perverted stuff ....

And ya just know that someone would do something completely perverted with the poor doll and post a picture of it. (I want copies, btw).

Cleolinda, did you know someone is doing a POTO in 15 minutes all in Legos? He posted pictures of it on the IMDB a while back. I can try to find the link for you if you want ...

Edit - actually it's not "his own" it looks like your's. I certainly hope he credits you properly if he makes the movie and posts it. I thought you might like to know the wide variety of responses to your work.

Yeah, I kinda poked around and raised that question. I'm not sure why my first reaction was negative, since it doesn't look like there's any attempt to deny credit or anything, and I've been really pleased when people have asked to perform it every other time. Maybe because I had to hear about it from a third party. We'll see. Thanks for letting me know. : )

"Another recap... FROM THE FUTURE! Not mine, however. Also, I would think that Chris Rock would be a lot funnier than... whatever that is. "

Man, that WAS lame. I get the feeling Chris Rock is going to be pretty tame in fact. The fiasco is going to be Gil "I'm trying so hard to be edgy that I hurt myself" Cates lame-o direction.

I'm not even going to watch. I have to study for a Operations Management midterm (and yes, nothing in the world is more boring) and everyone's comments here will be more entertaining than anything on the screen. Unless of course, there is a disaster of epic proportion, which I am praying for.

It seems altogether appropriate that Anna Dollerious is a "retired item." (It could be worse-- what if Vladimir ordered the doll, and it came as a little urn with gritty gray stuff inside? With a beaker of salt water to keep it company?)
