Just a few things that came to my attention between comas today:

OH MY GOD! IT'S THE LOVELY EMILY!

[livejournal.com profile] sissi_blucas capped an episode of One Tree Hill that just happens to have a certain waitress-extra in it...

Sin City action figures! I've also seen a Marv that was pretty good.

DVD-quality POTO screen caps, for all you iconmakers out there. Only 88 so far, but a vast leap in quality from what we've had.

Many new Sideshow and/or Weta items announced at ToyFair, including Aragorn at the Black Gates and the Legolas-Gimli HoYay Special (product images not yet available). Oh, and a My First Autopsy Scully that needs a new tailor, stat.

ETA: Noooo! Not Sandra Dee! Imitation of Life! A Summer Place! Woe.

If I can go 24 hours without a fever, I will pronounce myself unsick. Right now I'm just weak and tired, though, and trying to rest so I don't get sicker. : )

I hope you're feeling better, hon. I meant to comment on your sickness posts. Where did the time go? :/

Sadness about Sandra Dee. Somehow this seems ironic to me, but that could be because my mom and I just bought When a Man Answers on DVD the other day. Funny our world, isn't it?

Rest up and take care of thyself. *hugs and chocolate*

Poor Sandra Dee.

Is it sad that when I saw the name Sandra Dee, I got the song from Grease stuck in my head?

My mom refuses to believe that she was only 63. And yay for the Lovely Emily.

That chick in the orange makes me giggle hard. Especially in the second picture. Yay Lovely Emily! Even though I don't know her...

And. The best thing to get better with is Luden's cherry cough drops. It doesn't matter what you have. They make you better.

The action figures are pretty hip, but they'll never tear me away from my old-skool Marv. Can't argue with a toy that comes with a severed head, an axe and a can of gasoline in addition to Gladys.

Kicks such ass it's ridiculous.

Hey, I'm sort of near Wilmington...one of my friends got a walk-on extra bit on Dawson's Creek a couple years ago while she was vacationing there. I'm about three or four hours away. Just noticed that's where The Lovely Emily is at grad school.

This post and thread has to be one of the most surreal moments of my life thus far.

How did this capping come about?

Date: 2005-02-21 03:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
There's a community called [livejournal.com profile] cap_it where, among other things, someone's been capping the second season of One Tree Hill. I just waited for her to get around to episode 5 (she seems to be going backwards--she may do 4 next). So I went to the gallery of like 100+ pictures and just looked at everything set in the coffee shop until I found you. (Hee.) The capper didn't know about it until I was like, "Hey! I'ma steal your pictures, because my friend is in them!"

This is off-topic, but what font do you use for the m15m and LOST icons? I've been trying to make some of that sort for my friend's [livejournal.com profile] randomosity8946's HP spoof, but all of my other pixel fonts look retarded.

Date: 2005-02-21 04:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Silkscreen. You can get it at dafont.com.

Date: 2005-02-22 10:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com
Okay, another question, sorry. I got the font, but there are four different types. I didn't use the bold styles.

So, I tried putting the text on the icons, but it's very blurry. So, I have to ask you this:

- Which style of Silkscreen did you use?
- What was the size/kerning? (I'm assuming that has something to do with the blurriness)
- And, how did you outline the text?

That was more like three questions, but all the effects I've tried don't seem to work, and I really like the way your icons came out. Sorry if it's annoying you. :(

Date: 2005-02-22 10:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
I think I used 8 pt Silkscreen, with a one-pixel stroke (see the effects menu--the tiny f button on the lower righthand side of the screen--my screen, anyway). As for style--I only have one kind, so I don't know. There's an option near the text palette, I forget what it's called, where you get to choose between "strong," "smooth," something else, and "none." Always use "none" for bitmap fonts like Silkscreen. My kerning gradually got narrower as I got used to Photoshop, but I end up using something like -25 or -50 depending on how much text I need to fit on Lost icons (it's in the negatives, I know that).

I'm using a pretty low version of Photoshop--something like 6 or 7--but if you have any trouble with all of my crappy instructions ("Uh, you know, the thing. With the thing"), I can send you one of the .psd documents I use to do the icons, so you can see what I'm doing.

Lauren, please take a look at my Weekly Track Chart (http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Polter-Cow/).

I blame you.

Now get well, missy, if you haven't already. I think you gave my mom the flu.

(As long as I'm blaming you for things.)
