OW HEAD IS OF THE HURRRRRRT. I think it's from not eating this afternoon--I had a Slimfast just to keep my blood sugar up, but apparently that didn't work. Also, the Squishy is ill. Poor thing.

I'm not watching the Super Bowl--which I wouldn't care about anyway, except for the commercials--so if anything earthshattering happens during the breaks, I'm sure someone will have it online within seconds. Bring me links, would you? I'm desperately trying to wrap up Titanic.

ETA: Super Bowl commercials! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] princessmerbear!

First comment! I must take it while it is still fresh!

If only I had something to say.

...I like cheese.

You haven't missed a thing commercialwise. Only a horrible MyDaddy.com commercial that was a waste of $2.4 million but full of boobage and bad taste.

Mydaddy was bad. But, it wasn't as bad as the squicky Degree commerical with the "mom's boy" action figure. THAT was disgusting.

you mean like the magnetic action? That was almost incestuous...

Check out www.lincolnfry.com -- which has an auction that is raking in big bucks for a plastic french fry. (If the world doesn't keep crashing the Yahoo site behind the auction ;) )

You might have already seen this (it generated some buzz when it was banned from the Stuper Bowl about 4 years ago).

Suffice to say, singing cows!

(Of course what's funny is that it's all about not buying leather, and I'm currently lusting over a leather jacket mentioned on hissyfit.com)

I'm a Bills fan myself (if I cared about football... to repharase: my parents and everyone else I know is a Bills fan), so Superbowl 25, 26, 27 and 28 were a big deal. And yikes, I just realized that those were 14, 13, 12 and 11 years ago, respectively. I feel old now.

those were the first 4 superbowls I actually watched! 25 was the best game of all time! Whitney Houston sang the best national anthem of all time before that game.

I have pretty much supported the closest team in every sport. That would have meant the oilers, but dallas had a rookie running back I liked at the time so I became a cowboys fan. Emmitt!

Whereas I grew up cheering for Earl Campbell through the 70's and felt betrayed by the way they treated Bum Phillips and so remain, to this day, a Saints fan.

Despite the fact that I live in Dallas.

Poor [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda. Would it make you feel better if I said I sent you a package yesterday? It should get to you in 10-12 days... and has a little orange happy face sticker on the address label because I'm a sticker whore.

There was one commercial that I liked. It was the FedEx one with the top ten things that Superbowl commercials have. I want a copy of that commercial, in all seriousness.

Since I don't get enough commercials, my tiny black and white TV is set up next to the computer so I can watch the commercials, but turn it down during the game.

Doesn't ingesting sugar for energy not work because it's only short term? You have to eat carbs a few hours beforehand or something. I'm not sure, though, because I don't really pay attention in health classes.

And then they put in a Cialis commercial. Why!?!? Didn't they have a big enough fuss over that last year?

I like the commercialsihate.com guy's take on that one:

"Erections lasting longer than four hours, though rare, require immediate medical attention."

This is okay. Black women's breasts are not okay. Not for America.

Theoretically, all the advertisers break out the really awesome/funny/daring/expensive commercials during the Super Bowl because there's a huge audience. This year... is sort of lacking.

The NFL Network commercial was great. Mostly because I'm a Steelers fan and think Ben Roethlisberger is the greatest. Plus, the commercial amused me. When they make me laugh, they're good.

And that person was right. Hands-free cellphones do make you look stupid.

My dad's a Steelers fan too...but we're from New England. Since I don't give a crap about football, I root for the Pats for being from my home and for the Steelers because when the Steelers win, my dad is happy and when my dad is happy the household is happy too. The double rooting made it a little awkward two weeks ago though...

Though I think I'd have to turn in my Texas driver's license if I admitted to rooting for the Steelers, Roethelisberger is a sweetheart, isn't he? He had a heck of a year and I look forward to seeing what he can do in years to come.
