MY BOTTLE OF HARVEST MOON CAME IN WHEEEE!

P.S. Midway smells like cake. Mmmcake.

[Poll #581233]
I had money on Mom being up and around by yesterday afternoon, so I lost that bet: she wasn't up and cooking until this morning. Literally, frying up a mess of bacon for breakfast and then making her homemade spaghetti sauce. Because she'd torn more than they'd thought, she's apparently going to be down longer than they thought, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it until Wednesday. I think she's going to drive me insane. I mean, Lord love my mother, and I do too, but: Why haven't I sold that polystone yet? Why aren't I cleaning? Have I finished my reading for school yet? Wasn't I supposed to be writing a paper, or did I already turn that in? My Social Security evaluation came in the mail ("Mom, don't worry about it. There isn't going to be a Social Security by the time I'm sixty"), and a bill for Vanity Fair. Is my subscription already up yet? Didn't I just pay it? Am I going to pay it again? Did I forget to pay the first one, is that what it is? What's in that box? What's in the other box I got yesterday? Why am I going upstairs so soon...?

I don't think I'm going to make it, you guys.

Linkspam:

Serenity guerilla marketing. Does not actually involve masked men kidnapping you off the street and forcing you into a theater, although it feels that way sometimes. (I kid! I kid!)

I wanted to know if you were up for pimping/linkspamming a program I co-run, since you have several bajillion young writers who read your blog on a regular basis, and it's a good cause.

The Little Owl Mentoring Program (http://mentoring.absynthemuse.com) connects experienced adult writers with young writers ages 13-22 for free. Run by Hope Clark, editor of FundsforWriters.com, who runs the mentor side of things, and Elisabeth Wilhelm, editor of AbsyntheMuse.com, who reps the teen demographic, the program currently has over 85 mentors and 95 mentees on the list. We have international bilingual journalists published in international newspapers, magazine editors, award-winning sci-fi and fantasy writers, poets from Africa, professors and teachers as mentors. If Elisabeth doesn't have a mentor on the list to fit what you're looking for, she'll find the one for you. (We also currently have a great need for mentors, so please pass the message on!) The greatest part is that the entire program is not-for-profit and free.

Thanks. :)

Jon Stewart talks to the British about the Daily Show. It's funny to hear the writer describe Stewart, the show, and various elements in terms of British TV, mostly because I have no idea what he's talking about. "It's like Whosit and Whazzat, with a dash of Buh?"

From [livejournal.com profile] edda: Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman, two tastes that taste great together:
Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are in talks to star in Touchstone Pictures' The Prestige, which will serve as Batman Begins helmer Christopher Nolan's next directorial outing, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Bale and Jackman will play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers. The title refers to the residue left after a magician's successful trick.

The script is based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel of the same name and was adapted by Nolan's brother, Jonathan. He wrote the short story on which Christopher's Nolan's breakout movie, Memento, was based on.
