Back from class; back to work.

From an FT thread: an amazing sidewalk artist.

Link from [livejournal.com profile] electricland: The true tale of a brave action figure behind enemy lines. "19 January 2005: The Slinky betrayed us. I should have known. I never trusted him. He was an unstable character, always going back and forth, back and forth, never showing a shred of backbone. 'Come, senor, I know the way to the insurgents' headquarters,' he rasped. The fact that he was an Arab toy speaking with a stereotypical Spanish accent should have tipped me off. But hindsight is always 20/20. Literally. I can turn my head 360 degrees."

More warning signs that your child may be a Goth.

Craig Parker on slash: "At least one of us is having an exciting Friday night."

Costume fans represent! The 2005 Hollywood exhibit is open at FIDM.

Brokeback Mountain trailer caps! Not the smut you're looking for, though. Woe.

Meme du jour:

1) Pick a song that you love that you want me to forever associate with you.
2) Upload it on yousendit.com/your domain (or, if you're unable to do so, you can skip this step).
3) Comment with the link (or tell me which song, and I can try to find it myself).
4) Post this in your journal so you can make a mix that reminds you of the people that you love/like the most in the entire world.

I'm going to add a step here and ask--is there a song you particularly associate me with? I mean, it'd be cool if it were a totally random song. Of course, knowing me and my journal, it's probably going to be one of the many, many songs I've told y'all about having embarrassing fixations on. "You'll always be that awful Samantha Fox song to me, Cleo!"

To be perfectly honest and a total dork, the Phantom theme song. Every time that stupid "DUHHHHH! DUNDUNDUNDUN DUHHHH!" comes on, I think, "Oh. Cleolinda." :-)

Coldplay, "Not Everything's Lost" (http://s26.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ER7JDQ73OR6E11IEJJ7Q3CECN). That's me. You? "Walking On Sunshine", for some reason. I dunno, it's happy. :D

~ whimper ~ They cruelly tantalize us with a tab that says "Dates and Locations," and then have ONE location! Which is NOT Chicago! They do not love me and must suffer!!!

Actually, they do not love me, do not know me, and will never notice the difference. But the other one sounds more dramatic and all...

Well, in this case, upload a song to their server. For email address, send it to yourself. When it's done, it'll give you a link you can post; I think you get, like, seven downloads before it goes bad (to keep people from basically using the service like their own personal Napster).

YouSendIt is totally not working for me right now. But Space's 'Female of the Species' is a totally rocking song. That's me.

I don't really have a song I associate with you. When I think of you, usually I think of laughing so hard that my sides hurt. Because your humor does that to me. So, if that's a song, then, hey, lol. You get the sound of painful laughter.

WOW on the sidewalk art. *wants to be able to draw*

Song for me... probably "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge. Or "Your Song". I love that movie way too much. :-) I'm a music addict, though, so there are probably a lot of songs that'd work. *wonders if there's a song called "Indecisive Weirdo"*

As for you... hm. Probably Rufus Wainwright's "Hallelujah". Because every time I hear that song I keep applying different parts of it to Lost characters, and the first writings I saw of yours were the Lost recaps.

Yeah. That's how my thought processes work. LOL

I don't know about Craig, but I know of at least one certain other actor at that con, who couldn't get enough of talking about slash. And when I met him on another occasion, he was the one who brought the topic up! It's not just the fans who get a kick out of it.

For myself, I'd either pick "See Her Smile" from tick, tick, BOOM! or "Storybook" from The Scarlet Pimpernel. The first sounds a bit sad, but has a sweet note in the lyrics, and the seconds sounds rather cheerful, but, lyrics-wise, is kind of melancholy and longing. I love them both and couldn't pick, though I suppose "Storybook" is more appropriate, since it has the storytelling theme.

For you . . . honestly, girl, you can't shake the POTO thing right now. Someday, when I'm over your connection with POTO, I will comment out of the blue with another song, 'kay?

When I think of you, I don't normally think of a song so I had to pause for a moment before coming up with one.
The Beatles - "Dear Prudence"
I have no idea how it relates, but I think it's something about the line
that you are part of everything
that made me think of how people are (okay, I'm) always reminded of you when they watch Lost. Or Phantom of the Opera. Or..y'know, alot of things.

For me? I'd probably say Iron and Wine - "Lion's Mane" (http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1UXET65RFACH43S05QQAE7QU0E). I have no idea why.

Forgive me for being so mule-headed, sweetie, but that meme is an imperial pain in the butt! Plus, I don't think it's available in that format. What I associate with you is the overture to A Little Night Music. Somehow that busy music with so many threads to it suits you to a tee.

If people keep linking at this rate, tonight I'll see a guy whose paintings literally come to life.
