Lucky Dog woke me up howling about an hour ago (puppy nightmares?), so: pre-dawn insomniac linkspam:

Yeah, the suicidal driver who caused the two-train pileup is an asshole. You know who's a bigger asshole? The other guy who attempted the same thing early yesterday morning.

Can't sleep, Nicole will eat me... can't sleep, Nicole will eat me...

From [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes: "First they came for Bert and Ernie, and I said nothing because I was not a muppet..."

Say No to Babysauce.

All the LOTR gifs: Boromir Is Completely Insane. The fourth one makes me cry. WOOMCH! (Oh, who gave me the link to this? I need to thank them!)

Barbie as Elektra. This would be old-school comic book Elektra, not Jennifer Garner Elektra. It's... kind of disturbing.

"In Memory of Private Harry Potter." Oh dear. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] claddagh812.)

Damn, Neil, your phone camera is a lot better than mine.

I got metaquoted, and it spawned poetry.

I can't decide if my favorite bit of the Boromir gifs is Frodo's "Yes, you do. You totally do" or Aragorn's "That's retarded." Those things slay me.

I had to take [Bad username or site: metaquotes / @ livejournal.com] off my flist because of the spammage, but when it's good, it is choice ^_^

That picture of Nicole is kinda scary. She does look like she did NOT want to be there. Who can blame her after her house has been bugged twice by paparazzi? It's a fuckyouallanddie look if I ever saw one - the smile not touching the eyes. :*/

Sheesh. The article that goes with the Harry gravestone sez:
"Every day tourists and visitors come wanting to see Harry's grave," the cemetery's custodian Ibrahim Huri told the Maariv daily on Tuesday.
"At first I didn't know why they were interested in this grave, but then I was told there were books and movies about him."
The local council has recently added the grave to the official tourist guide.

...jeez.

Thank you, thank you for posting this.

And that Nicole Kidman link, too -- I've always suspected that she just ain't right.

I'm hoping the "ahem" is sarcasm, because that's the shittiest - no, wait, not quite - damn-near-the-shittiest character thing I've ever seen. I don't know the Elektra character in any "classic" way, but that doll is just dull. Like "I Dream of Jeannie" in mono-color prozac boring. My mini-Lego Millenium Falcon has more character than that, and probably costs 1/3 the price.

Oh, dude, I saw that! Watching Van Helsing on DVD was real interesting after that.

(You know what the best part about the quote is? If you read it very carefully, Sienna Guillory is basically saying, "Man, actresses are such BITCHES, talking smack about each other. You know what I heard about Kate Beckinsale's boobs...?")

keep him alive and in prison for the rest of his life is a bigger punishment...

I don't quite understand why people are flocking to this kids gravesite. I mean, if I were dead, after a war, and people started visiting me not because I lost my life defending my country or somesuch but instead because my name matches a FICTIONAL CHARACTER I'd be pretty depressed... and dead and all.

Date: 2005-01-28 04:57 pm (UTC)

The "Can't sleep, Nicole will eat me..." is HILARIOUS.

[looks at Barbie as Elektra] AH! MY EYES!

The Harry Potter thing is kinda stupid... I mean, it's sort of disrespectful to the guy if you're comparing him to a fictional character. How much you wanna bet people are going to start saying, "OMG JK IS GOIN TO KIL OFEF HARY IN HUONOR OF TIS SOLDER!!1!11ONE!"?

Death penalty for a suicide attempt. Some people just can’t get irony and they seam to like to get into law and politics.
(I even support the death penalty, at least in theory not as practiced but I don’t get this)

Comic geek rant follows

Barbee is example to me of why Elektra movie came over poorly. Personal observation if the producers of a comic book movie aren’t willing to use a beloved costume they are unlikely to translate the character and story well either.
And the bull the movie people said about the costume being too reveling is bogus. The costume is basically a red leotard with flaps. Jennifer Garner wore a leotard for years as a kid dancing. Now the thong back seemingly painted on version used in some drawings is very reveling but that is not the normal way Elektra was drawn in example the Barbie version would have been fine.
