Various links while I take a break to eat lunch:

The worst idea for a movie EVER, starring way too many people we like.

Scans of Walt's comic book--in English! With OMGWTFPOLARBEAR icon courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] kassandra05!

Unca Neil talks more about his Beowulf project, which seems to involve some scary Polar Express-style motion capture. Sort of.

(Speaking of Beowulf movies, it looks like time spent watching Raoul toss his hair did not go in vain.)

Screen caps of the new Corpse Bride trailer, in which Claymation!Johnny is really, really cute.

Also, since Phantom of the Opera has officially opened wide in North America, this is the point where I beg you to go see it if you haven't already. COME ON. You know you want to see Boobzilla and the doggeh and the Missing Hanson Brother and Christine's daddy issues and the Dread Pirate Roberts Corps de Ballet. It's gorgeous eye candy reasonably well executed, and everything is either really good or really hilarious, so really, everyone wins. Take your friends and go out for drinks afterwards. Hell, y'all might run into each other, if you notice people laughing inappropriately at just the right places. And look at these icons. They are begging you. You don't want to disappoint them, do you?

Wow. First comment. I just have to take that opportunity. The icon is beautiful, thank you! Snagged it and will credit. :) And okay, I'll consider trying to see Phantom. I hadn't planned to. :)

I saw Phantom last night, and it's a good thing I went by myself, 'cuz whoever went with me would have been very annoyed by me laughing at inappropriate times. For which of course I've decided to blame your Phantom in 15 minutes, of course. :D

Heh. I was laughing the one time I saw it--my mom kept going, "Why were you laughing? That was very touching in the musical!" And I kept saying, "How were you NOT laughing?"

I haven't even seen any of the other list of 20+ movies on my list of "to see's". But Phantom is definately on there, near the top with the ones that are still in theatres. I missed half of them already :( lol

There is no possible I would spend the money to see Phantom in the theater. No. Possible. Way.

However, as soon as it comes out on dvd? So renting it so I can sit in my living room and laugh my ass off.

Ditto. I have no self control I would laugh out loud in the theater, just like I did during Underworld. I can't wait for the phantom dvd.

Heh, I want to see it anyway, just haven't made the time. (My husband looked at me like I was nuts when I said I wanted to see it, so I'm on my own for this one, not that that's bad.)

Hey, did you make the last HRC dinner? I didn't.

Is it wrong for me to want to kidnap Claymation!Johnny and lock him in my closet? He makes me think of an animated Nny, too. You know, from Gaiman's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac?

And I'be been planning on seeing Phantom, if my boyfriend would find time to get his act together. I may just go alone.

And for the record, I was laughing hysterically in the theatre at Van Helsing before I even knew m15m existed.

Definitely love the Corpse Bride screencaps. Going to check out the trailer as soon as I don't get error messages every time I click a link on my flist.

Sort of On Topic / Sort of Off:
I don't know if you ever read Terry Pratchett, but I am a big fan, and I just got Maskerade - which is a great Phantom parody as well as a book in its own right. I think you might really enjoy it :)

Just seconding the Maskerade (and Pratchett) rec. I read that without knowing a thing about POTO, and now that I've seen the movie, I want to read it again so I can catch all the references.

As much as I want to say something witty about Flushed Away, I can't. My brain is just stuck on a continuous "WTF?" reel.

And I'd love to see Phantom of the Opera, but our crummy theater still isn't getting it in. Rar. *crosses fingers*

Cleolinda,

You know the Lost episode where Claire's kidnapped by the creepy citrus guy? In her dream, when Locke has black and white eyes, maybe his eyes were made of backgammon pieces! Which still makes it creepy, but I was watching the first episode, and he held the pieces up next to his eyes and it all made sense, or I'm just delusional.

I agree about the movie. I've seen it twice. I read your Movie in 15 Minutes and applaud your brilliance. I had to friend you. I also read your review of the movie and agree with you 97 percent. (I liked the spaz-tasic choreography of Masquerade.) You shall be a welcome addition to my friends' page! :-)

I'm totally going to see PotO... but, unfortunately not until it comes out in Prague. On the plus side, it will probably be in English with Czech subtitles and I'll be able to learn the Czech phrases for melodramatic comments!

That Minnie icon makes me want to just run out and see Phantom right now (which I actually might be doing tonight anyway.)

!Johnny's animated character looks like the kid from Gypsy 83 (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.newfestival.org/images/data/NF_FILM/graphic/103.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.newfestival.org/cgi-bin/iowa/event.html%3Frecord%3D80%26page%3D22&h=150&w=200&sz=7&tbnid=H8MbFJrZ8qoJ:&tbnh=74&tbnw=98&start=12&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgypsy%2B83%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN).

PLEASE tell me this version is coming out in America. Please? (Heh, oddly enough I just finished watching Timeline to get my Gerard fix.) I'm not sure if I could make it without cracking up loudly in the theater during PotO now having read your M15M, but when it hits dvd, I'll be there!

And you linked my weirdo movie find! I feel honored :)

*grins* I'm very glad I saw POTO before I read your m15m -- I adored the musical, but I would NOT have been able to keep a straight face. Husband picked up a bootleg of the movie for me, so now I have to watch it again with m15m right along with me!

Re "The worst idea for a movie EVER" link: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG! *breathes* BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I really want to see Phantom, if only because then your recap will be 10 times funnier, but... I don't know who I'd get to go with me. Or how I'd get there, if I decided to go by myself.

Apparentely the area in which I live (suburbia, which is why I can't say the "town" in which I live) was indeed one of the "select cities"... which surprises me, because usually we're not.

Which also surprises me, because... this is Seattle (andthesurroundingarea).
