Aaaaaand the reposting wank starts all over again. A commenter has informed me that someone reposted "Phantom in Fifteen Minutes" over at IMDB with no credit to me. I'm to the point now where I'm trying to stop people from doing that (seriously--it's 4500 words, people. Be kind to your fellow posters!), but I'm not going to throw a tantrum over it, and most people are very nice and apologetic when I ask them to take things down.

And then there's this guy:

rainbowkingdom: I posted a link to that already. And I think you should credit the author of it.

ebarkle_05: credit the author? it wasn't you, i don't know who the author was. i'm not claiming it in anyway, i'm simple presenting it. don't assume young one, it will become your demise.

cleolinda: Well, padawan, I'M the author, and I find it hard to believe you don't know that, given that my name is planted in white font every three lines on the original entry because of cases just like this. This is reposted in its entirety without my permission, which I specifically asked people not to do. I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed it, but I'm going to ask you to please remove or edit those two posts.

Fortunately, I'm to the point now where this is more funny than anything. I mean, people who were telling me that it was dumb to get upset about this kind of thing were right--besides, every single time this happens, someone pops up and says, "Dude, that's Cleo's work. WTF?" So it's not like anyone ever gets away with anything. But man, get a load of the nerve on this one. "Young one"?

I think you should be upset. It's you hard work and what if someone claimed it was their's and they got a break or big time credit for it?

I kind of wondered...

... how the folks at Andrew Lloyd Webber got a hold of it (don't tell me they're a member of m15m)!

Good and bad sides of reposting, I suppose.

Wow. They suck, but at least they're the kind of pathetic losers who are:

a. scared to death when they get caught
b. such sad jackasses that you can't help but laugh at them.

I'd almost feel bad for them.

Almost.

I think reposting without credit is amongst the lowest things someone can do. As has been pointed out above, it may have unexpected benefits, when ALW's people get to see it, but generally, it's scummy!

Plagerism leads to hatred, hatred leads to loathing, loathing leads to the dark side!

PS: Congratulations on (a) the book extract going down well, (b) the approval from the ALW people, and (c)Phantom in 15m. It's almost enough to make me want to see the movie, rather than waiting for the DVD....

For serious, man. That's the part that pissed me off--the way the guy spoke to the other poster. Also: I find it VERY DIFFICULT to believe that they didn't know the author, because--well, let me C&P a chunk for you:

MEG: Wow, you were great! Who’s your voice teacher?

CHRISTINE: Well, you know, my dead father said he would send me an angel, so I’ve been praying, and you know what? He did! The angel hides in my closet and sings to me!

Because the font's white, you can't see the copyright notices unless you highlight the text with your cursor, but they're there. Which means that, in order to post this, SOMEONE had to take out about 3000 copyright notices. Ass.

Oy. People are so dumb, sometimes. I love how you responded with, "well, Padawan..." LOL Because he/she did sound like they were trying to channel the Jedi council or something. *facepalms* By the way, I had my mom read the Phantom in 15 minutes post yesterday and she laughed so hard she cried. The phone rang right while she was reading the Masquerade scene ("...I'll hide the ring in my cleavage!") and she couldn't even answer it. She told me to compliment you again, this time for her! ;)
