Yesterday's horoscope:

Overview: You're about to amaze even yourself at what tumbles out of your mouth. Just try to go easy on anyone who's less equipped in the verbal department -- which today is just about everyone. [Oh, WHATEVER. Way to get me beaten up and my lunch money stolen, horoscope.]

For the most part, you're pleased, happy and extremely proud of yourself when you say or do something that shocks and amazes the crowds -- in fact, the more, the merrier. So with the stars emphasizing startling modes of communications and playing up your urges to let fly with whatever crosses your mind no matter where you are or who you happen to be with, you ought to be happy. For some reason, though, you're worried. What's up with that?

Okay, so let's ignore the ass-kissing qualities here: Is it not weird that I got this horoscope yesterday of all days?

I love this icon. I don't know why, but the whole idea of "No it's not! I'm totally her dad! Daddy loves you, Christine!" cracks. me. up. Maybe that makes me immodest, but I think that's pretty much how I go about writing these things--I put down things that make me laugh. I can always tell when a parody is turning out bad, because it feels like I'm actually trying to tell you jokes in a very ham-handed, rib-nudging way. This is why I always say that I can't really take credit for the really good ones--I'm just transcribing what's already there, in a way.

Oh, and I've heard from my agent. It looks like I'm going to need to put together a movie sampler tonight, so the Lost recap may not come out until tomorrow. I know, woe. But the last time I put it off a day, it turned out really well, so, you know, everybody wins.

What? No Lost recap tonight? GASP! Oh well, I guess your genius is needed elsewhere... And really, it's best that you write stuff that you feel proud of and find funny yourself, because we're not going to enjoy it unless you're enjoying it!

The Phantom m15m was perfect, by the way. I was so glad you picked up on the lost Hanson brother thing - when I saw it I kept humming "MMMbop".

Horoscopes creep me out sometimes. lol - Especially when they seem somehow accurate. ;)

I luv your icon, too. I saw it days ago, before I read the Phantom m15m, so I had no idea what it was from and it still cracked me up. <33

The thing is the "I'm totally her dad" thing was TOTALLY in the film!!

It isn't like you are making this stuff up out of nowhere; the subtext is right there in the film, just waiting to be snarked at.

And you do it so well! ;)

(As I said to my friend Mike halfway through the film, "Somebody has SERIOUS pervie daddy-issues.")

See! You see what I'm saying! (Hee. Thanks.) It cracks me up because in the book it's totally this daddy thing UNTIL SHE MEETS HIM in the mirror scene, and she's like, "HEY! YOU'RE JUST SOME GUY!" I can't believe that Christine would meet this guy, go down his lair, get her grope on, and then be like, "Daddy? Is that you?" when she goes to his tomb. Oh, hon.

And meanwhile, I have *no* idea what's going on with the Phantom stuff because I've never 1) seen the show, 2) seen the movie (yet). So I'm going to go back and read the recap as soon as I've seen it (if our itty-bitty theater ever gets it in. LOL)

In the meantime, looking forward to the Lost recap-- whenever it happens to be put up. ;-)

Phantom is opening wide on 1/21--that may be part of the problem. Apparently Birmingham is a "select city," which is why I got to see it. I really, really think your theater will get it--it's not like there's anything else playing this time of year anyway.

... you mean Australia actually got something before America did, by a considerable margin? That's amazing.

(The best we've managed before this was X-Men 2, I think. I spent my two days grace cackling at my X-Men obsessed friends in America and generally enjoying myself, secure in the knowledge such an opportunity would never come again. It was really good while it lasted.)

Um, hi, I'm stalking you now. ^__^

(I mean... uh... I've seen you around FW, and your Phantom in 15 minutes nearly made me choke to death but in a good way, so now I'm stalking you.

Uh.

Watching you. ^_^)

You know, I thought about it, since I was talking about a Cafe Press store last week or so, but... you know? I kind of don't want to mess with the ALW machine at this point. I don't even think it's infringement per se... I just kind of don't even want to go there, since I know his office is aware of me now.

They're not aware of me though so I can still do it!
*makes with the evil laugher*
...well, unless they read this. Then their aware of me. Bastards! Always one step ahead! Still, I think I can take on ALW... no like in court where he'll have his millions of lawyers and I'll have... my pretty pretty smile, but if it were one on one fisticuffs TO THE DEATH then I think I'd do okay. (please note that I have been up since 6:30 this morning, thus I am making with the crazy talk)

That whole scene at the cemetery cracks me up. From the horses and carriages that appear out of nowhere to the idea that someone could be walking around so poised when their chest is in imminent danger of frostbite. And this isn't taken into account the daddy issues! Brilliant.

Ooooh and I'm very much trying not to look at any Lost posting. Another Aussie here who has had to succumb to "other avenues" and is somewhat behind.

I can no longer thind of KA without picturing the "I have two swords" icons, and the Lost recaps have me laughing so hard I almost chock. Thanks for the great writing and good luck with the book!

Cleolinda-dahling... umm ok

So, I was thinking that I would like to help raise money for Christina... do my little part, or more appropriately my fraction of your little part. So I've decided that I would like to make Harry Potter Scarves and sell them for like $15, with all but the cost of yarn (don't know what I'd do about shipping, yet) going as a donation to 4Christina.org. I was curious if a) you knew the best way to set up payment, and 2) would help me get the word around to your own Potter-head fans.

Awww! Certainly can do. You ought to be able to receive money through Paypal, although Yuki_onna has had some recent experience trying to work with them--you might want to talk to her. But I'd be more than happy to pimp it once you've got it in place.

You know, as far as comedy as 'High Art' goes, the "I'm totally her dad" gag has more appeal by being fairly non-specific to any generation or culture group. In other words, it's not an in-joke that's understood by only a particular group with a common set of references.

Then again, I could be full of bullshit, as I often am. It's a lapse especially peculiar to academics everywhere. Whatevah!

I liked "MY PREENING ARM", too.

Me too! Mine never gets all chatty - it's all angst and woe and everything.

And on the topic of movies in 15, we've had snow and cold cold weather (unusual for us) for the last week and with all the inappropriately dressed people, all I can say is "The Romans wouldn't let us have sleeves".

I can't wait for the Lost recap, mostly because I spent the entire episode with my face stuck in "OH EM GEE" mode. Man, the fact that I like that show too much is probably illegal in Iowa or something.

I actually haven't seen Phantom of the Opera in the movies yet. And when I saw it at age 7 on stage, I cried and have been afraid of everything ever since, so I'm kind of hoping to squelch that fear by seeing it onscreen.

Okie, spoilers for LOST

(sorry - dunno how to spoiler tag stuff)

Okie, that shark that's been circling Lostrailia since 'Solitary?' yeah- they jumped it in a BIG way (for me) tonight. It's turning into a soap opera with all the fake killings!!!! I'll take episodes 1-8 and 11-12 and go, thank ya.

BUT - Did anyone notice 'You All Everybody' playing at the party on Alias? I missed all the dialogue in that scene, but I heard Driveshaft, dammit!
