Orgy of present-wrapping this afternoon--well, I watched the second half of ROTK EE with Mom while she wrapped. I'm mostly using transcripts to work on the 15Ms because it's easier to dip in and out of them, but I wanted to finish the EE, so. Got several good segments written (longhand! GASP!) for scenes that also appear in the theatrical version. My eyes really hurt now, though...

Mail! Christmas cards from [livejournal.com profile] distant_cord, [livejournal.com profile] princessmerbear, and [livejournal.com profile] kyranjaye! Thank you!

(I also just got a "Barbie Collector Holiday Gift Guide." I think December 21 is a bit late for OOO QUEEN ELIZABETH I BARBIE YEAAAAARN.)

Taking a break before dinner. Did a little catching up on my movie news--specifically, pictures from the studios' 2005 previews at comingsoon.net. By no means all that's out there, but a few titles I thought might interest y'all:

Aeon Flux

The Aviator

Bewitched

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Constantine

The Corpse Bride

Dark Water

The Fountain

A History of Violence

Legend of Zorro

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Memoirs of a Geisha

The Ring 2

Sigh. Back to writing while dinner is cooking.

my boyfriend and i went to see Ocean's Twelve this past weekend. he nearly died (or at least plucked his eyes out) when he saw the trailer for Constantine (though i know he's seen it before, so by now he should be able to keep his mumblings down). i felt a wee bit embarrassed since i assumed most of the audience wasn't familiar with the comic.

Have to say, I'm avoiding Constantine like the plague, as it's ALL WRONG! Keanu-bloody-Cantact, AND it's set in the WRONG BLOODY CONTINENT.
Ahem.
Anyhoo, good luck with the writy-type stuff!

D00d. I'm with you there. Now Sean Bean as John Constantine ... I'd pay money to see that.

And he doesn't even smoke in the movie. Shit.

If he's not British and he doesn't smoke, I don't care what kind of demons he cavorts with, he's not John Constantine. Is it that hard to get a character in even that broad of strokes?

Even Eric Idle'd be a better choice.... Or Stephen Fry, playing the whole thing ironically. That might actually be entertaining. But why bother licensing a character if you're going to screw up two of his three basic features? *grrrhuff*

/hadn't heard the "not smoking" bit yet

Huh? He most certainly does smoke in the movie. There was an interview with Reeves where he talked about how he had to smoke one brand for the movie scenes and another that he smoked in his trailer.

And not every Hellblazer movie took place in Europe. Quite a few took place in the US.

As for Reeves as Constantine... yeeeah. Not my first choice, but Reeves is a die-hard Hellblazer fanatic so he at least understand the character. I still say he should have dyed his hair for the movie.

*gasp* THEY MAKE A QUEEN ELIZABETH I BARBIE?? WHY DON'T I HAVE ONE?

I saw a 'Bewitched' preview before Lemony Snicket on Sunday. It was...perplexing.

*squee* I am in love with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I just finished re-reading it for the billionth time. Yay!

I'm still gonna go see it, though. Heh.

You get nifty gifts. :)

Isn't "Memoirs of a Geisha" why John Williams isn't composing the music for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"?

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" looks like it will be good. I actually hoped for a second that "Dark Water" was short for "The Pirates of Dark Water". Do you remember that cartoon? They found half the jewels and then they cancel it!

And in case you missed this week's Onion....

Psychiatrists in select cities nationwide have reported a surge in Post-Melodramatic Stress Disorder cases (http://www.theonion.com/news/index.php?issue=4051&n=1)following the Dec. 22 release of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom Of The Opera.

last night I spent several hours (I know how sad) watching trailers and I found these ones worth watching:
Chicken Little
Racing Stripes
The Merchant of Venice
House of Flying Daggers
Cars
I am David (but only because I read the book and I'd be interested to see the translation to film)
The Weather Man
The Life Aquatic

I don't know how many of these have come out in America but none have in Australia... I got them all from http://www.apple.com/trailers/ which is just so good for trailers.

Hmmm, Aeon Flux is not Aeon Flux without the funky hair and lack of clothing--that outfit is *immensely* conservative for Aeon. This is a chick who had a chastity belt that everyone in the city had a key to (literally). Also, I do love Marton Csokas but I don't know if he's what I see when I imagine a live action Trevor Goodchild. I may go see this out of masochistic curiosity.

On the other hand--The Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Eeeeee! I'm so Tim Burton's bitch (except when it comes to Planet of the Apes), it isn't funny.

An almost-2005 movie

This looks just bloody fascinating: William Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice (http://www.sonypictures.com/classics/merchantofvenice/index_site.html). With Al Pacino as Shylock, Jeremy Irons as Antonio, and Joseph Fiennes as Bassanio. I'm so curious to see how this has handled because on the one hand, it's a comedy! and on the other hand, it's painful.

From the trailer, it looks to be beautifully shot, if nothing else. I've never heard of the woman playing Portia, either. She's got sort of a "Cate Blanchett's Younger Sister" vibe, I think.

Actually, Cate was the actress they were originally trying to get--the girl they did get looks so much like her (and it's not like Cate has a particularly generic face) that it's almost unseemly. Also, I believe they either had or were trying to get Ian McKellen originally for the Jeremy Irons role. Between them losing those two actors and "Do we not bleed? HOO-AH!," I pretty much ran away screaming from this one.

Ah... I rather like Mr. Irons, and I'm willing to cut Al some slack, although I admit I won't be too surprised if he starts gnawing the scenery. Nevertheless, I am fascinated, despite the lack of Ian "God to geeks everywhere" McKellen.

I thought my eyes were betraying me when I saw Aeon Flux on that list.

So I clicked your very convenient link and, well, died.

THEY'RE MAKING A FILM OF AEON FLUX!!!! WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?!

I used to watch that show religiously! Course, most would argue that it wasn't proper for a girl my age to have been watching it but I didn't care about that and neither did my parents so -- *SQUEE*

As I say in the next entry (because a lot of people jumped on me about this): this is not a list of movies that will be good or movies I want to see. This is simply a list of movies that had pictures, and Serenity did not have any.
