Dec. 21st, 2004 05:59 pmOrgy of present-wrapping this afternoon--well, I watched the second half of ROTK EE with Mom while she wrapped. I'm mostly using transcripts to work on the 15Ms because it's easier to dip in and out of them, but I wanted to finish the EE, so. Got several good segments written (longhand! GASP!) for scenes that also appear in the theatrical version. My eyes really hurt now, though...
Mail! Christmas cards from
distant_cord,
princessmerbear, and
kyranjaye! Thank you!
(I also just got a "Barbie Collector Holiday Gift Guide." I think December 21 is a bit late for OOO QUEEN ELIZABETH I BARBIE YEAAAAARN.)
Taking a break before dinner. Did a little catching up on my movie news--specifically, pictures from the studios' 2005 previews at comingsoon.net. By no means all that's out there, but a few titles I thought might interest y'all:
Aeon Flux
The Aviator
Bewitched
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Constantine
The Corpse Bride
Dark Water
The Fountain
A History of Violence
Legend of Zorro
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
Memoirs of a Geisha
The Ring 2
Sigh. Back to writing while dinner is cooking.

Date: 2004-12-21 07:36 pm (UTC)Even Eric Idle'd be a better choice.... Or Stephen Fry, playing the whole thing ironically. That might actually be entertaining. But why bother licensing a character if you're going to screw up two of his three basic features? *grrrhuff*
/hadn't heard the "not smoking" bit yet

Date: 2004-12-22 08:54 am (UTC)And not every Hellblazer movie took place in Europe. Quite a few took place in the US.
As for Reeves as Constantine... yeeeah. Not my first choice, but Reeves is a die-hard Hellblazer fanatic so he at least understand the character. I still say he should have dyed his hair for the movie.

Date: 2004-12-21 04:10 pm (UTC)I saw a 'Bewitched' preview before Lemony Snicket on Sunday. It was...perplexing.
*squee* I am in love with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I just finished re-reading it for the billionth time. Yay!

Date: 2004-12-21 05:18 pm (UTC)Isn't "Memoirs of a Geisha" why John Williams isn't composing the music for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"?
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" looks like it will be good. I actually hoped for a second that "Dark Water" was short for "The Pirates of Dark Water". Do you remember that cartoon? They found half the jewels and then they cancel it!

Worth it just for the pic.

Date: 2004-12-21 06:20 pm (UTC)Chicken Little
Racing Stripes
The Merchant of Venice
House of Flying Daggers
Cars
I am David (but only because I read the book and I'd be interested to see the translation to film)
The Weather Man
The Life Aquatic
I don't know how many of these have come out in America but none have in Australia... I got them all from http://www.apple.com/trailers/ which is just so good for trailers.

Date: 2004-12-21 08:58 pm (UTC)Lmao, okay, so I just typed it into the search on the site.
But anyway, I was going to comment to tell you that there's a house near mine that has a GIGANTIC gorgeous tree that is completely covered in white Christmas lights, and I swear that it's the Tree of Gondor. I'll go by and take pictures tomorrow!

Date: 2004-12-22 09:39 am (UTC)An almost-2005 movie
Date: 2004-12-22 11:55 am (UTC)From the trailer, it looks to be beautifully shot, if nothing else. I've never heard of the woman playing Portia, either. She's got sort of a "Cate Blanchett's Younger Sister" vibe, I think.

THEY'RE MAKING A FILM OF AEON FLUX!!!! WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?!
I used to watch that show religiously! Course, most would argue that it wasn't proper for a girl my age to have been watching it but I didn't care about that and neither did my parents so -- *SQUEE*
*FLAILS*
