Pottergate update: I came downstairs and found Mom and Sister Girl bickering "pleasantly" over the best way to mix the cornbread dressing, so apparently all rifts have been healed. And then we watched the first half of Sorcerer's Stone (through the Quidditch match, however far that is), because Sister Girl won't let Mom watch the end of POA until she's seen all of the first two. As long as they're not arguing, I don't care.

Also: I "let slip" that I've ordered Sister Girl the willow wand she wanted for Christmas, and will not hesitate to send it back if she doesn't behave herself. Santa Cleo sees all, yo.

Santa Cleo!

Now I'm picturing your usual icon of purple wearing a Santa Hat.

Hee!

Speaking of Santa Cleo, I wish I had the money to send all my LJ friends Christmas cards--a lot of people are doing it and it looks like so much fun, but... I'm doing well just to be able to buy decent Christmas presents this year.

Why send it back? Think of it as a Sister Attitude Readjustment Implement.

No, see, the Sister Attitude Readjustment Implement (SARI) will be my wand, which word on the street says will be a holly 15 incher. :D

*blinks!* I just had to read that twice, since I skimme dover it, caught "SARI" and went "my name, wha?"

(The Santa Cleo <-- good strategy ... if only such would work on my brother).

*grins* that association is what peple use to remember my name. If they haven't gone:

John: So, I'm John. And you are?
Sari: Sari.
John: Oh! I said "what's your name?"
Sari: Sari!
John: Sorry, what did you say your name was?
Sari: SARI!
John: Oh! Sari. I thought you said "sorry".

We'll be curling up with POA this evening. Never did see it in the theater (life happend big time)

But we've a big screen and stereo surround sound (another reason we wait til most movies hit DVD)

Glad sister-girl is behaving - I'm equally lucking with my hubby-man *grin*

Heh, if I was Sister Girl, I'd be on my best behavior *ever*. Does Santa Cleo see with her Inner Eye, a la Trelawny?

Also, do you have any tips on explaining to end of PoA to family members? I've tried to explain it to my mom about five times, and she still doesn't get it. Frustration.

The phrase "Back to the Future" comes up a lot, if that helps. My mom actually hasn't finished the movie yet, but I'll let you know how I end up explaining it to her.

You ordered her a willow wand? Shit I'd be dusting your bookshelves and drawing your bathwater for that.

If she falls down on the job, you have my edress.

Niiiice.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I was talking to my Greek professor in office hours yesterday and we were bitching yet again about how much we hated Troy...and he asked me if I'd read Troy in Fifteen Minutes. And then we spent about ten more minutes quoting lines from that and cracking up.

So apparently your reading audience includes the chair of graduate admissions (http://www.unc.edu/~whrace/) for UNC's classics department. Feel special!
