Nov. 23rd, 2004 09:49 amHaven't had any episodes of TMI in 24 hours. This is good. Have not had anything to eat but a sleeve of saltines in 36 hours. That is bad. I went ahead and email-warned my professor that I probably would not be coming in today, and might actually be going to get checked out for dehydration, so... dehydration it is!
kaytethinks wanted me to post this--Books for Soldiers: "Since you have the readership of approximately a small country on your LJ if maybe you would post this link and tell people to register and send a holiday card or two off to a soldier? I'm trying to spread a little cheer here." So if you'd like to brighten a soldier's Christmas away from home, hop over there.

Date: 2004-11-23 08:37 am (UTC)The soldiers just give everythign away - passing books their *enitire unit has read* onto another unit that trades their books-dvds-etc. :)
I went Half-price-bookstore crazy last year.
Good idea...
Date: 2004-11-23 08:41 am (UTC)I'm glad you are feeling better. I got sick for the first time in four years last week and have been raging impotently about it ever since. I've found olive leaf extract to be very helpful, because it strafes and annhilates most viruses and bacterial infections.
I'll be getting some cards for soldiers, as soon as I can extricate myself from counseling the Elder God Cthulhu and Charlie from Lost about their love lives down at

Date: 2004-11-23 08:56 am (UTC)I assume it works, because I met a Vet while traveling, who told me his unit and others received books in Baghdad. They passed them around, swapped books, and people cried like it was mail from home. Well, it is, I suppose.
Dude, the men in uniform will read romance, they are so desperate for books. But watch the racy covers and titles when sending to a Muslim county.

Date: 2004-11-23 03:48 pm (UTC)Am a little confused about the Books for Soldiers, though, as it says on the front page they're suspending operations over the holidays at DoD request so that family packages and mail can get through. I think they did this last year as well.
If someone can correct me on this I'd be grateful. Looks like a terrific idea.
